Iconic,

I have a KM T1000 that I bought from DanLC4 on RCU and they are great and they are at least 99% compatible with HPI parts, even the diff! I have already bought several different parts from HPI for it! Even the alloy upgrades are interchangeable! I am curious where did you hear that they were not capatible with HPI parts?

Its a well known fact that the HPI diff gears not will fit into the KM gearbox. You have to buy the whole HPI diff if there´s something broken. You can start reading here for several people who have experienced just that.

Iconic,

You are correct the gears in the diff won't fit but the diff itself fits fine! The inside gears in the diff are probably the only thing that is not compatible! Hence the 99% capatibility of parts! So, I would not say that the parts on the HPI are not compatible with the KM Baja or T1000, because most of the are!

Ok... Most parts are but not all. So when the diff gears f*** up in your KM, you have to buy a whole new diff instead of the broken gear... I don't call that fully compatible. I don't think KM is all bad, but there are to many reports of broken engines and stuff all over the internet. So I decided to go for the Rovan instead. Rovan have got good critics for their engines but many say that their plastic is bad... I have run 6-7 tanks for now and broke one front lower arm and one dogbone.

Iconic,

So, if you happen to strip a gear in your diff (which is not very likely) you replace the diff for $85.00 with an HPI diff and then if it ever happens again you can use HPI parts to repair it! Now everything is compatible! That is not a very good reason to not like the KM Baja or T1000! Now, as far as the engine goes, I do not have an opinion! Actually, the engine is not an issue with me as I have converted mine to electric! As far as I am concerned, it sound like the Rovan and KM are both very good options to paying the high dollars for the HPI! I am also glad you are enjoying yours, as that is what it is all about anyway! Good luck with yours!

But it is still NOT 100% compatible out of the box. I understand your argument. The only reason I brought this up is that someone earlier in this thread say that KM is 100% compatible, which is not. I think people should know that. You have to pay at least 85$ to get it fully compatible. For me theres no big difference between KM and Rovan, both seem be to ok, but people should know what they are buying...

Heool,

Any updates on the T1000?

Keep the thread going provide the good, bad, and ugly of the T1000; the truck looks stout!

my T1000 has plugged thru 5 tanks of gas now, with no breaks. engine goin strong. i think the newer made trucks and their engines are better than when they first released.

i spent some cash doing more alloy upgrades to mine that werent on it. but from what i heard and read it has some hpi don't have right off the bat.

im fixin to upgrade the radio and servos soon, the radios they send out are even better than in manual, ans has a disk with it that HAS the right radio on it.

its a flysky gt3 they use now. good radio, nothing wrong with mine yet, but i want to add a bee and lights, and want a dedicated channel for each, so im going with a 4pks 5755 and 7955 servos.

I have been looking at the t-1000 also, If what you guys say is true about it only needing a hpi diff replacement (after I break it). It seems well worth the $740.00 price. This is going to be my first 1/5/non electric RC.

i feel for the money and what you get its worth it. the few hundred you save can go towards upgrades SOME of which do not come stock on a hpi. so you can start beefing up sections of truck with money saved. and as far as that diff goes, i messed mine up myself by accident when i pulled it to check the fluid, and thats one thing i reccommend you do before you ever run it, it had almost no fluid in it. but prices on those diffs are different, you can get a new diff complete from Dan for the KM for bout 55 bucks or so compared to getting the HPI one for more. and it seems to be just as good as the hpi one, of course mine is the alloy case not plastic, don't know of the hpi is or not.

you really don't have to get the hpi diff if ya wanna save a lil the km metal cased one is just as good.

As far as this diff situation goes I don't see it as abig problem if you make sure the fluid is correct from the start. I run with a big group of bajas and have never seen a broken gear in a diff. usally somthing else goes first.

Do the hpi aftermarket drive cups fit into the diff case is whats imortant and this I do not know

Km Baja T1000

I own 3 0f the Km baja T1000 very nice machines & very compatible with the Hpi Baja 5b & 5t. I bought many upgrades for them & all fit nicely. I say Km is taking Hpi a run for there money. U go Km.:cup-1:

for drive cups i reccommend goin with some hostile boots, they make 2 types, a grey one that takes a different type of grease, and the black ones, that i use TFE bearing/drivecup grease in. the black ones are lil stiffer and thicker, the greys are softer, don't know bout thickness on them. i heard tell they tear easier than the blacks do.

the hostile boots will fit both hpi and km alike. i have the black ones on my KM T1000.
