Maybe a repeat from previous findings but......
For my Krakens I want more protection for my drive cups beyond using Silicone Dry lube. I did a little research and most use shrink tube to keep from losing pins but that does 50% of the job. I wanted the full boot like HPI and Losi use. The drive cup is 25mm OD. I bought two options to give it a try.
First is the 30 Degree North DTT-7 Short Course Truck Shock Shaft and Drive Shaft Boot Kit TDNP011 $4.05 but you only get two (2) boots. These don’t give a size. Pliable rubber and a quick reverse roll and they installed easily dry with no lube. These would need rings or at least 2 good zip ties to keep them on.
Second is the HPI 86479 Axle Boots 22x47mm $10 and you get four (4) boots. Somewhat Pliable rubber as they are easily 2x-3x thicker than the 30DN boots. A quick reverse roll and they installed fairly easily dry with no lube. I can’t find the rings separately to buy so will just use a good zip tie. They are way more expensive but i like the fit much much more than the 30DN ones. I’ll try these on the Vekta 5E and if they work out I will buy more.
** Going to try the boots on my shocks. If they fit I will definitely use them as shocks with boots are much cleaner and last longer between rebuild in my experience.
