For those that built a Taylor transmission. Just received my Blackbone Conversion Kit from Detroit Performance and man i shouldn't be doing this after a long Monday. I hate when there is no instructions.
On the Layshaft it had the LH threaded bolt and an aluminum spacer. I presume this is the correct placement? Bearing - Kraken HD Drive Gear - Bearing and Aluminum Spacer. See Orange arrow.
Little Lunchtime wrenching. The Blackbone conversion was Expensive but man oh man is it top notch stuff so far. Quality machining and top grade hardware. Also very clean as i only had to do one pass of the machined holes.
Other than no directions i look forward to the rest of putting it together knowing it will hold up to 2-3x more power than i will be putting to the transmission.
You probably already gathered that i have AOCD.
I have done this on the easily over 75 diffs i have rebuilt/built. Fully assemble and as normal tighten down the ring gear bolts with your choice of tools. Spin the drives to make sure all is good and mark the bolts with a sharpie. Wait an hour.
This is my first Kraken diff build but the ring gear bolts took 18in-lb to set upon initial build. After an hour then got a final torque to 22in-lb with no binding etc etc. Our hands are stupid sensitive and make us what we are but they are not Torque Wrenches.
I have asked on other forums and Kraken what the TQ values are for the major components and received crickets. On smaller scales RC's it is no big but 1/5 scale is totally different IMO. On my previous 1/5 scales i had TQ values that i came up / found out by trial and error and keep a log for when i did maintenance and rebuilds. I will do the same on my Vesla, Vekta Buggy and TT for my own piece of mind.
FYI the bolt that holds the Sun gear to the ring gear and Out Drive got a final torque to 18in-lb.
See my Sharpie marks and how much they moved. One was darn near a 1/4 turn.
Front bumper LED's. Nobody make an aftermarket mount so i made my own out of an old cutting board. I Rit Dyed the Killer Pods. I haven't done that in years and was tired so they are quit centered so they turned out to be 10ft ones.
Yes, I drilled and tapped them. Definitely NOT needed but they certainly won't fall off.
