This wouldn’t be my first big conversion. I feel like the DBXL-E 2.0 is a great platform. However I don’t much like the Spektrum ESC so that will be one of the first things to go. The 780kv motor seems good. Has anyone looked into running sidebyside motor setup in these? Adding another 780kv and using a couple 200amp esc’s maybe on 10-12s? As I’m starting with power plant to find what will break first. I don’t mind a bit of overkill in power as I can tune the ESC’s as needed just don’t want to overheat the motors. Aside from that do any of the MTXL parts work on the DBXLE2?

So yes they are more or less the same platform. The mtxl is discontinued. So you better stock up on the mt specific parts. You'll need the chassis, all arms, cv shafts, gear set, tires, and some other bits. I don't know of anyone that has done a conversion like this. With those big tires your gonna have heat issues like crazy going the e route. Best of luck.

Thanks for contributing. I figure the wheels are already about the same diameter. If I need to drop a tooth or two on the pinion that’s fine but it runs pretty cool with a stock setup. The lack of parts worry me... didn’t know it was dc’d I may have to look at ways to mount a truck body and lift suspension instead. With spacers and MTXL tires or something similar. Does anyone know of tires like the MTXL? 24mm hex Preferably belted? Or adapters to something larger?

Those tires are specific to the mtxl. They are a lot bigger. @21bangbang has a db and my, maybe he can post the size difference. The mt is geared way lower then the db. So its gonna take more then a tooth or two to keep the motor cool. You can still get all the parts for the mt so the conversion should be straight forward. Rc max has aftermarket parts for them as well.

I saw a video where they had them put on an xmaxx and they were nearly the same size as the xmaxx tires. The xmaxx tires are also nearly the same size as the dbxle2. Maybe I’m not seeing this right?

I’m ok with upgrading the motor to a TP or castle. I don’t know how durable the MTXL wheel is.. I know the diffs are tougher. The drivetrain is great. Can it handle it? That is a good question. Are there no alternatives to a tire that size? Raminator?

Wow, so are there no options that size? Just look into stuff used on the xmaxx? I think they are both 24mm..

Right, I think I’m going to stick with “belted” do you know anything about the strength of the hubs/bearings? Can they handle extenders? Those really multiply the force on the hubs

12" tyres..........????
i run cheap ass bearings off ebay?...as cant see/justify "fancy bearings " prices☹....tbh u aint gonna notice the difference between $99 cent far east ones or ceramic ones when new imo?.....obv one may last longer then the other.....

They're way bigger than xmaxx tires.

I use 2" extenders on the rear only of my mtxl, no issues

@21bangbang your still kicking the stock engine, right?
You can get upgraded spindles that will fit, the db and mt are I interchangeable for that aspect. With more power you will be harder on them. I have 1 inch extenders on my db, haven't noticed too much difference in bearing life, but my tires are much smaller then the mtxl.
Edit, arnt the Xmaxx tires have a goofy hub?

yes they gave a 15mm castleatation type hub/hex set up?

Yep, thanks for that. I’ll look into the 1” extenders. Bigger batteries for the project are in.

Think I saw my shipment coming in.
Side note.. Grabbed an Xmaxx last night for $460 included a charger, tons of extra parts: new wheels, all a arms, etc etc... TQI bt adapter, 2 sets of awesome batteries (this is how I got the SMC’s and the main reason I have another XMaxx now)
Yep, bought it just for the batteries.
