Start a thread of its own on this. Curious to how it holds up for you. Is it just me or do the paint scheme for the doors look upside down on the sides? The shock towers look worthy too....

what pipe can u use with the stock rovan engine it comes with? also does it have an 8000rpm clutch spring already installed?

I would not be shocked to find out that this is a real losi, just the factory is no longer obligated to hold the design strictly to losi. I go to china several times a year and visit different factories. Most factories in china require a MOQ and once thats no longer met they will shop the design to other companies before they finally stop production. Losi could have ordered say 5000 trucks and parts for a time frame of 3yrs and once factory fills that order, Losi stocks and stops production (not discontinue). Now the factory has molds and programs for all the parts, if someone wants to spend 10-20k don't think they would not run the so called clones, Same with the baja. If you look at some of the parts the mold release points are in the same spot. So is it truly a clone? I use the real packaged losi brand but have my doubts sometimes. Just something to ponder!

Nope that's how the paint scheme is on the doors looks good to me. Shock towers are really strong alloy but black in color. Does have alloy center diff.
Any pipe that will fit the Losi 5ive will fit this Lt305 Clone & yes it has a 30.5cc with 8000rpm clutch install from factory. To be honest I agree with
Dastuffuwant . The Losi 5ive truck could be bought by another company like say Rovan & just Changed the name just like the Hpi Clone / king motor & The Rovan T1000 Baja. I was about to bring out a product myself & have it patented. Ones I patented it I had a choice to sell that product off to that company or take the royalties meaning I could have let any company make my product & I collect the royalties & all the company had to do was change one little part on that product to make them different between them each other. boom u have companies making the same product but with just that little difference between them. To me Same base product just a different name with just a little difference to make it there own.

Just my opinion; but who would totally reverse engineer a nearly 3yr old truck, make molds and cad files for it this late in the game. I doubt if losi sells 50pcs per month now. Just not smart unless you have files and molds already and can re-sell it under another name!

Would like to hear a report on the Rovan after some use. Mostly about how the clutch & servos held up and if the screws stayed in. Just bought a place in Pa. so I can have it shipped there or go pick one up on my way up there.

Looking to get my brother into the 5ive game but without breaking the bank, and more than likely convert to brushless... Would love to hear some reviews on this clone especially if someone has owned both ends of the story. Kinda looks like a bargain to me seeing IF parts break they can be replaced with higher quality parts you know won't break on an as needed basis.

Pick up a used one from ebay and Save that way then look at the Skyrc Beast motor The X524 910kv is the best motor out for under 450.00 I payed 147.00 for mine also look at there EX200 amp esc. you will be running on 8s with this set up and more power than gas motors under 42cc.

If you're going to convert it to brushless why not start off with a Losi roller? It is cheaper than buying the clone.

Clone is $880 shipped from RovanRC. With that said, if I was buying one to convert to electric I probably would just pick up the real roller using the 10% off coupon currently at Amain.

Side note: Do not think about running the clone without doing a tear down. I've just got a little ways into it and have found many loose screws, etc. Pretty much one should do a tear down of any RTR or ARR no matter the manufacturer.

Isn't that motor esc set up the same as the hk one? (skyrc one mentioned)

I second the tear down rebuild notion as I believe it should be done often seeing how much we put these things through. Many times I've found issues before they broke or worse damaged associated parts simply by tear down clean up rebuilding.

Back on topic, anyone own this clone that can give an educated comparison on the plastic used?

I've been following closely but for some reason it won't let me post over there so I guess I will here.

The open Spacing on the pins seems about the same on my 5ive had me worried as well but later found out it was the norm.

As far as build goes we've established that it needs a complete work through screw by screw, but how do you think those alu diff will hold up? Would one consider it a possible cheap way of upgrading from stock?

And if u could request a topic for your next chopping board test, to see how well the servos work obviously even stock ones leave something to be desired, but will they be enough to get by for a while?

As stated previously I'm just interested in a cheaper priced option to convert to brushless and in this case maybe even make a few bucks selling off the gas engine components. Yea Yea I know I know buy authentic used yadda yadda I would if more would pop up with a decent price tag but all available are upgraded and more expensive would be a shame to part out a nice rig also running out of time as I'd like to get my brother a set up to enjoy with before I'm shipped off to afghani-sand. If only I could bring my paddle mounted 5ive with haha
