I have a losi 5t and I was wondering about a good racing setup for smaller tighter tracks. So far I have upgraded my front and rear diff housing to rc maxx, upgraded diff cups, running 50 k diff oil in front and rear, 100k in center. No idea what shock oil is in it as I got it used, and I upgraded to 70kg hobbystar servos. What upgrades and set up does everyone recommend?? The track is smaller and has tight turns. Its loamy, and bumpy with a few jumps. Thanks in advance.

Got any footage of your running? It's hard to give advice without seeing what it's doing. How's it take the bumps? Jumping around a lot, hitting the chassis a lot? How's the handling around the corners? When you brake are you still able to turn sufficiently? Hows it turn on power vs off power? Is this tight technical track the only track like this you run at, or will there be others that will need a different set up? Arw there any long straights where you need a tall gear to get ahead, or mostly short straights with jumps and mogals? For a base line you need to know everything about your rig to be competitive. So first thing, first. Swap out the shock fluid for a known fluid. 45 or 50 wt would be most recommended. It seems most of us are running the heavy DDM springs at all 4 corners, but that will be subjective for how it handles around the track. Stiffer springs wont soak up the bumps as nice as softer springs, but tuning via oil weight can get a good compromise. Hows your toe and camber settings? Are you running away bar(s)?

Thank you. So the track has 2 long straights, a jump leading into a turn, a low height triple,. I guess my main issue is it won't turn as tight as I would like. It seems to bottom out a little on the front off one jump ( not a big jump) . Also other part of questions what are the 5t weak parts so that I have less chance of breaking during a race.

You aren’t getting great steering because your diff oils are so high and maybe the quality of those servos (don’t know how good the servos are because I’ve never come across them). I’d bring the front diff down to 15k or so and run losi red springs with 40 wt in front and 45 wt in rear. Set your preload in the shocks so that your axles are horizontal. There will be more tuning from there but it’s important to do changes 1 step at a time so you know if it helps or hurts the performance of the car

Thank u . I appreciate the help

30k is factory (I think) in the front and rear diffs. I'd personally drop the front diff down some, Bob should know a bit better in that then me, but I'd let the center and rear diff alone for the moment. Definitely need to work on your shocks, and I think Bob gives solid advice there. The 5ive platform doesn't really have a lot of "weak" points. Chassis braces are a good upgrade, but I'd honestly favor a light set up, over tons of alloy on the truck. They take quite a beating. I also agree with Bob's point on your steering servo, you may want to do a bit of testing to make sure it's getting full throw. The lighter diff oil will help as well. How's your front end set up?

Aluminum chassis braces are all you should need. Replace everything else that breaks with stock parts. There will be some good performance upgrades you can make, but I’d focus on getting consistent on the track and use upgrades to improve laps times after that

Thats some good advice right there?????
