The large engine mount has been cut which created a weak point at the bearing for the layshaft and consequently the plastic split. This could have added to the heat and problems above.

Bearing to pinion has been damaged with a screw driver (by the look of it) and it is very stiff to rotate - more unnecessary heat :nono: so new bearings here too.

Clutch doesn't look too bad unless you can tell me otherwise........

Sorry to go off topic andy, i just love bassets :D

No worries mate. They are great dogs, well mannered, good with the kids & always draw attention when you take em out for a walk!

Looks like he's had a good innings bud but its always hard when they have to go.

With all of what was messed up there isn't as much damage as there could be...

You are right there!! Parts needed up to now are mainly consumable items, bearings (all of em!!), shock seals, shock oil etc - the only things I can think of up to now are new engine mounts and a redneck to put over the K&N.

ahh bless does he trip over his ears when you are taking him for a walk lol

dwarfy i cant belive your not using the alloy front hubs mate i would have put them on

Been looking at the engine and the compression is not the best. I didnt see it running when I bought it so wasnt expecting too much anyway especially with the K&N fitted and no pre-filter! I took the filter off today & it looks like half the Deeside sand has got in there thru the K&N so it will be a full strip down & rebuild rather than risk more damage to the internals. This will take time........

So..........

Bought a CY with a DDM 26.9 ported head off Andy (CSR260) which I am picking up tomorrow :celebrate::celebrate: Should make it go quite well with the FG tuned pipe on. Ive read this pipe is a good all rounder so will be better suited for me than say a top end pipe. Cant wait to get it sorted now :D

the fg tuned pipe is good mate, the only reason i changed back to the leopard pipe is it's had a fekin hard life and it's cracked and dented to death :lol:

Good to hear its decent!! Its got a few dents but no cracks so good to go.

Picked up the new engine today & will get some pics up tomorrow :D Ordering the bearings for the layshaft and clutch bell tomorrow from JE Spares & picking up new engine mounts & layshaft tuning brake from Rossendale Models on Friday! Cant wait to start getting it back together now!!

Now for some porn..............:drool::drool:

Here is the new engine :D:scooter::gun_bandana::osama::clap:

Nice. Make sure to do the mesh mod while its out. Its worth the time taken. What filter is on it?

Stock HPI so good to go :D Will do the mesh mod too.

Spoke to ross mods yesterday and they don't have the engine mounts in stock so will be next week before I can get it fitted.

Got a dremel given today from 1 of the guys at work :D 10.8v like new with all the accessories & only been used twice!! Will come in handy on this project I think
