Looking very nice.
I see the owner's gone for 'back-to-front' chevrons on the rears - many say it gives better traction.
If it's for bashing, instead of serious racing, then I've found hydros are high maintenance - nothing better when working properly, but are very hands on.

I've reverted to cable discs for reliability, as I'm often away for long periods of time.

Other than that, looks great.
What's the motor? Standard G260RC or modified?

Make sure you run it with the yellow outerwares cover over that K&N filter or you will be looking at a re-build very quickly. Looks good tho!

I'm not sure if its standard or not. He says its about 4hp.

I might get a different filter, or at least make sure the outer wear is on it.

The bloke has had it about 3 years, so said there is loads of spares and stuff with it, so will have to go and have a look.

I was contemplating buying a new FG, but i'm a sucker for modifying, so buying this with all the alloy bits already on and tunes pipe etc will hopefully save me a fortune.

How would i go about putting a MT shell onto this Beetle? I think i prefer the monster truck look.

Cheers

Actually if you look closely, it was during a cold snap in UK, where I'm from, and I'd fitted Kold Kutter screws into the treads.
Traction is amazing on ice that you and I fall over on!!
I was just very wary that none would come flying out once I hit the gas!!
They didn't budge 1mm!

Thats a good Idea :)

I'm in Ireland myself, so if we get a winter like last year ill remember your tip.

Is it a straight swap between beetle and truck shells, or are the mounts different?

Thanks
Matt

very nice mate, looks like most the major upgrades are already done! ive owned a few fg,s and there great youll have great fun

i think front are same but rears are different all you do is take rear mount off and use the wing mount for the truck body i think?

Don't know about the back, but I do know the front body posts are shorter / lower - through the Beetle shape doubtless.
When I was hunting down aluminium posts, I nearly bought the wrong ones ....

Thanks for the info Al. I'll just wait to get the beetle, then get a truck body and suss it out.

Hi Bigtoyz, I should be goin looking at the beetle tomorrow. The bloke who owns it has been on holiday.

I picked up the monster beetle yesterday :)

A couple of the gears are nearly ready to be replaced, but new steel ones were included in the sale.

It's running all steel gears, except the spur gear which is plastic. He said he did this to protect the gears and diff etc. Is this the norm?

It started first pull, and ran well.
It runs with 2 battery packs on board. Is this normal, or a modification for longer run times?

The car needs a bit of tidying up, but looks good otherwise.

Cheers

easy mate, what you paid for it ? love it when a good deal goes through

I paid 800euro for it.

Figured with all the alloy bits and Samba pipe it was worth it.

Rare to see one in Ireland, and shipping from uk was 100euro if I bought one there.

Cheers
