SO I had my mt pro out for a lil bit today, fun might I add... :D I was driving and all of a sudden it wouldn't drive anymore.. all my cvd pins are in and that is fine, the clutch seems to be moving but nothing else drive train wise is...

What do I need to go over and look for ???

Thanks guys!

Keith

Which gear system do you have? If it's a square hub system, one of the hubs could be slipping. If it's the pin system, one of the pins could be sheared. Take the gear cover off and inspect for any missing pins, or obvious signs of slipping. Also, check the gears for damage.

Which version is it? Some of them had issues with the layshaft slipping. But I believe this only happened with the aluminum brake hub. So, check that just to be sure. (Are the MT's still shipping with the aluminum brake hub?)

I will check tomorrow if time permits me to...

I will figure out what hubs it has, I'm pretty sure its ilke my other mt with 4 pin gearing...

hopefully this is an easy fix, I was having a blast with the mt pro...

Well it turns out all my gears are in tact nothing appears broken. This is confusing. They are the square gears too... With the cover off if I move the truck by hand either way the gears turns but if I run the truck they won't... What do I look for next ? My clutch?

Put the truck against the wall with the gear cover off. Rev the engine. Then start down the list from the engine to the wheels:

1) Does the clutchbell move? If yes move on. If no then ur clutch is fried.

2) Does the A gear move? If yes move on. If no then your A gear square is slipping. Realign the setscrews with the shaft flats and retighten the setscrews.

3) If A moves then ur B and C will move also. If they don't then they would have to have the gear squares stripped out by the square. This is unlikely but possible.

4) Does the D gear move? If yes move on. If no then your D gear square is slipping. Realign the setscrews with the shaft flats and retighten the setscrews.

5) Is your Brake Square moving? If yes move on. If no then your layshaft is slipping in your brake square.

Continue to the center tranny's pinion gear > crown gear > center tranny drive cups > front/rear diff drive cups > all the way to the tires. Whatever part isn't moving is where the problem is.

Most likely your A or D gear square has the setscrews backed out and the square is slipping on the clutchbell/layshaft. This is pretty common. Just locktite em back up and your good to go.

P.S. Somebody should make a nifty transmission with a hex shaft so we don't have to worry about those stupid setscrews coming loose all the time.

Pretty sure my clutch is fine as well. I think the issue is with the brake cam gear, something in that line anyways. Help a brother out :) lol

+1

Like this tree you've got...

Now just put it into an actual "troubleshooting tree" ;)

The brake hub has two set screws. Make sure both are tight. If they're tight and it still slips, it's probably stripped out.

Thank you sir!

If it is stripped out, what do I do for replacement ?

I'm hoping it isn't but always good to know if it is..

Will look at it tomorrow and hopefully, I can get some playtime in...

They don't sell them individually, you'd have to buy a full set of square hubs. I think I have one laying around that you can have. I'll do some digging and let you know.

EDIT: I found it. Let me know if you need it.

Looks like I need a 50016 and a 50075, Are these the parts you have spare Deluge ?

I need one 25 tooth square drive gear and the square drive hub with the two set screws in it, Mine is seized into the 25 tooth gear and wont come out/off the gear... :( (grr)

I was hoping to get some play time in with my PRO today, Looking like I will be waiting a week or so now...

Edit: I ordered the parts and a extra from redcat ups 3 day select so I won't have to wait as long...

Thanks for offering the parts Deluge! Your the man!

I just have the brake hub and a few plastic 25 tooth gears, square drive. I'm assuming it's a V2 MT Pro, due to the square drive setup. Those are steel gears, correct? If they are, you could throw the gear into the freezer for a few hours. That'll loosen up the hub for you.

yea they are steel gears Deluge...

I will try the freezer trick and see what happens, It'd sure be nice to get it loose and be able to rock n roll with the pro. I just got the parts in today to get my other mt moving again (damn steering bellposts) At least I am racking up alot of spare parts for these two machines of mine, selling off alot of my old t-maxx stuff and reuppin the funds into my redcat hobby!

Well my parts came in today, everything was correct except the plastic 25 tooth gears, My question is, Can I use the plastic gear (just 1) with my metal gears until the new metal gear set I ordered (31Tx1-25Tx2-29Tx1) comes in ??
