Ok I have a Rampage MT, the newer V3, that will be here tomorrow:) I'm going to have around $700 for upgrades. I want to make it durable and I am a fan of alloy in the right places. The motor will be coming out, I have a reed case motor with custom ported 28.5cc head that I'm building right now for it. I will also use my Airtronics M11 trans/reciev instead of the stock radio gear.

That stuff I already have so the $700 will be for other upgrades. Any must upgrades for this thing? Alloy will probably be, cage, bulk heads, shock towers, arms, carriers, servo arms, diff cases, gear plate, and probably a few more. Looking at a CPI pipe probably. HPI wheel adapters, desperado wheels with Hostile MX 5B rears all around and maybe a couple other tire combos on wheels. SS screw set. Maybe a different gear setup for when running the smaller 5B wheels.

Input?

Thanks everyone.

How well does the stock shock oil/spring setup work out? It's gonna have a few extra pounds with the alloy.

Im pretty sure they don't have alum gear box housings, you start putting all that alum on your going to have one heavy sucker.

Sounds like you already have a good idea what you want far as upgrades:) Goodluck with your build should be good

Gear plate, not housing. I got it today and the gear plate looks to be aluminum already, as well as the shock towers and a few other parts. Probably will just add aluminum cage, arms, carriers, steering and throttle arms. It's pretty nice. BIG... Makes my 5B look small.

Kill switch is a gimme. You shouldn't run anything this big and expensive without one. That's a good looking truck. You make that cage?

Thanks. Yeah I made it. I'm getting ready to start on one for my XB.

Hope this truck doesn't end up being a let down. I really hate that there is a big sticker on the bottom that has the dreaded "Made in China" on it.

I have one and i beat the hell out of ,and still runs strong,i think you will be happy, great looking cage and truck, was going to trade mine, for a 5bss with a bunch of hopups, cause i already have 4 other 4wd cars but might just keep it now.

rampage suggested upgrades

i'ld suggest that ya change out the throttle servo 'cause it goes bad quickly. i've got the rampage mt pro & the throttle servo crapped out on me during my 2nd tank during the break-in period. i swapped the burned out servo with a hi-tec servo with plenty of torque (a must) .. . . now all is well. my steering servos are holding up after running 6th/7th tanks to date . . . knock on wood. since i run my rampage in a residential area, i've substituted the tuned pipe that came on the rampage w/ a stock muffler and have tried an assortment of attachments to the pipe to lower the dBs w/varying results . . . so far no complaints from the neighbors.

I run a TGN air filter with velitocy stack, TT gearing (29/31/25/25/) OBR 30.5cc FULL MOD engine, Hi Tech servos, Jetpro rear mount pipe and baja rims with trencher tires on my MT PRO...

Yeah I heard the throttle servo sucks might change that out before running also. What servo did yours come with? A Hexfly?

yeah I had a hexfly on mine, I've replaced my steering servos with hitech's but I'm still using the stock servo on the throttle, I have the hitech replacement for it but I'm gonna wait til it dies on me...
