WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D

My allloy FG Baja RWD has arrived. at work so cant open the box, ill get some pics tonight and post them tommoorow.

Its a second hand baja that a mate has gone the full hog on, over $6K upgrading it, most of its elcon.

Ill get a list of the upgardes up shortly.

It's running the original G260 Zen with modified and strengthened VRC pipe, ADA billet manifold and billet fan cover, pull start handle and outwares on filter and pullstart.

All suspension arms are elcon with extended kit in the rear and full marder billet conversion in the front with extended axle blocks - it's much more stable with the wide stance!

Rok RC wheel wizards (HPI adapters)are fitted with white rovan rims. Also got bulletproof elcon drivetrain with FG billet spur carrier and FG gears throughout, elcon diffbrake is fitted also. FG billet viscous diff is fitted and just had fresh 60K oil.

Nutech alloy rear shock brace and beautiful top end Lauterbacher shocks on all corners.

FG ball drive cups and elcon extended ball drive shafts are used. FG alloy rear uprights and M/T plastic front uprights are fitted - these are the only ones i found reliable - the alloys always came loose and ended up stripping.

It's got an alloy RACE radio tray and alloy FG servo saver with Hitec 5665 Steering servo with alloy horn and 5645 throttle/brake servo with alloy and VP4600mha battery pack - will not come with radio or receiver.

Custom front cage section with Integy roof scoop. Steel rod ends have been used throughout the entire car.

Its got plenty more upgrades and a massive bag of spares but the above will give you an idea, no expense spared!

I need to sus out some braking on it and get another spekky receiver before I can run it, hopefully wont be too long.

sounds great, please post pics, I contacted elcon for making wide arms for 4wd baja, no luck.

ok got everything out of the box and WOW, it looks SPECTACTULAR!

so strong and purposful!

fitted my spare receiver to it last night. this one glitched a long time ago in my FG MT and i didnt use it again, but thought would be ok to bench test with.

anyway here are the pics, massive bag of spares, almost enought to build a stocker LOL

hopefully start working on the brake system tonight.

what are the side pods?

started it up for the first time last night. picture this, 3 car brick garage, all windows and doors closed and a tin roof! man my ears were ringing for a while! been so long since I heard an un-silenced pipe!

did some work on the brakes last night, their going to need a fair bit of modding to work even half decent. problem is at full brake the caliper arm is a couple of mm away from clutch bell, and thats operating it by hand, when I use a servo it prolly will touch the clutch bell!

im thinking i might need to fabricate another arm, no way ill be able to bend this one, as you can see its quite thick and i don't think its adjustable, i might pull it back out tonight and have another look.

Thanks, no its not a 4wd or factory design. brake is designed by Elcon and from what i can tell the only thing compatible when running the elcon gear carrier which this has, it carries the spur, pinion and layshaft gears, acts as the large engine mount and also diff carrier. Yes the brake disc is mounted on the diff. running a FG viscous tuning diff.

Thanks! So it's all Elcon in the rear? I was just looking at that drivetrain mount on there web site. How does the brake rotor mount up to the diff?

thanks i cant take the credit, i purcahsed it like this and now im setting it up for how I like it.

the whole thing is nearly elcon, entire front end is elcone and so is the rear, i think the alloy radio tray is FG but thats about it!

don't know how the disc mounts to the diff, trying to understand how the caliper works atm, when I need a new disc then ill look at the disc LOL

thanks fellas.

pipe what adjuster are you talking about?

I did some work on it last night. found a grub screw that attaches the arms to the shaft which pushes the pads together, very basic design almost like the stock setup.

removed the arm and saw the flat spot where the grub screw tightens on the shaft, i used a dremel and made another flat spot on another part of the shaft, now instead of the contact point the arms being near the clutch bell its much further back, I think this may have solved the problem but I wont know until I make the linkage from the arm to the servo horn.

Trying to get my hands on some steel rod to do this, think its the same things bike spokes are made from.

went to hobby shop on weekend and got myself a cable and some small attachments, because of the angles a rod would need to be i thought a cable might be better, and for $10 worth a try!

so here is what I did. not happy with it, i think the brakes bind slightly because cable does not push the arm back, but ive got a solution im going to try tonight and ill get more pics up.

took it out for the first run yeasterday but it lasted only 30 seconds before something went wront in the clutch area, here's what I found. Got no play money left until next month so trying to get myself another pair of shoes until I can buy some new ones.

Of topic but since u have a 4wd and now 2wd single speed baja what would u recommend for a good gear setup for a 4wd Marder. I'm removing my 2 speed since I'm gonna go 4wd but I'm lost with single speed setups.
