I will have a go at it and if that fails I will fit button heads to it.
got to sort it out somehow..

also going to have a look at sorting my cable brakes.....they are sh*t spent ages getting them balanced and they still take an age to stop the car.
no power or locked up...makes no sense to me

check your pm mate, sent you a couple of questions, ill try to help where I can, if it will assist I can try and find some pics of my set up and post it in your thread, let me know.

Cheers..I have sent you another p'm
its beginging to get me annoyed..lol..I hate it when things don't work

take a deep breath and walk away, i have responded to the PM, hope it helps. let me know if you want pics, I don't think it will tell you anything you don't already know though

Well its bloody BROKEN again!!!!!!

done a few checks on the brakes and they all seem positive and gave the results I wanted so took it out for a blast....

done a medium speed roll on flat ground and I have now broken the bottom of a shock absorber...:(

I'm going to see if I can make alloy parts to replace them..and while Im at it I am going to take the brakes off and make sure every bit moves and works as it should.Because something is not adding up here...

My blast in the park was good fun but the brakes certainly are not up to much...
:w00t:

let me know when you do the strip down if you cant work out whats causing the brakes not to work to your satisfaction.

I can talk to the Australian importer who knows these things back to front.

also id recomend you leave the shock bottom ends plastic, the alloy ones can damage your swing arms. the little grub screw can sometimes back out of the swing arm which can cause the shock bottom end to break.

its a weak link and needed to stop destroying something more expensive, considering their worth a couple of bucks id keep it as your weak link.

thanks sperera

I never thought about the weak link...guess it could have been worse..
I will see about ordering some plastic ones up soon

I have stripped my brakes down and not found anything that seems out of place so its all been cleaned and set up again

not had chance to run it again since rebuilding them.

Also got a layshaft brake coming soon so hopefully all together it will stop now.

Is anybody running with servos mounted differently from standard i.e bolted to main chassis instead of a radio tray?

My old layshaft brake is going spare & Im sure I got some wheel squares. What else do you need? I will check the magic box tomorrow that my layshaft appeared in & see if there is anything else in there you need :D

I have placed bids on ebay for a layshaft brake so fingers crossed I get it cheap..

got to get the plastic shock bottoms that have the screw through it into the wishbone.

I have noticed alot of play in the rose joints too so going to replace them as and when I get a chance(thats just through choice though)

also the screws that keep coming loose in the steering post have started to snap so got to sort that somehow.

and I've broken another set of front roll cage bars.

split the body shell fairly badly so in the middle of patching that back up

lost the choke lever from the carb.

lost my sanity too.

still to fit the kill switch as I ordered one but it was normally open so no use
thats now been replaced with a normally closed but it was already broken by the time it arrived.

remind me why we all like these things....:lol::lol::lol:

Let me know how you get on with the layshaft brake cos I got my old std set here if you want it.
Got the shock parts as well. How many you need?
Do you have spare screws? If not let me know what size.
Cant help with rose joints, roll cage bars, body shell, choke lever and Ive definitely run out of sanity :lol:

HUGE THANKS
got screws as I bought the stainless kit from wheelspin.
I'm going to make some new bars for the front cage myself as I have only had the car out twice and broken another bar.
I'm also looking at another radio tray and front brace to try and secure the front as I must be getting flex in the chassis to be breaking screws.(may also be why my brakes are not effective) brakes on and chassis bends.
not very visible when sat on bench and everything is tight but when the steering post screw breaks then the whole front end moves..

Keep the radio tray and just add 2 extra posts to the front to stop the flex. This even works well with the std plastic tray :cool2:

You can buy or make a brace that spans both bulkheads to give extra support at the front.

Cheers Andy
I should be in the workshop most of tomorrow so I plan on making a brace and sorting a few things out..I have bought a used layshaft brake today from a guy that I bumped into in the model shop.(didnt even know the guy had FG's)

hopefully I can get it all up and running ready for the better weather.
It is chucking it down tonight and forecast for tomorrow too.

Engine out again :( :lol::lol::lol:

Msg sent..Cheers

£5 for a tuned brake seemed ok to me.

Wish I could get me some more cheap bits

Cracking deal mate :w00t:
Just a thought on these wheel squares - what width are they? The spares I have are 10mm wide will these be ok?

thats fine as they are the rear wheel with no brakes on them so they will be perfect.
and beggars cant be choosers ...lol
