Thanks.

I was just looking at mounting the motor. I know most are gas guys, but let me know your thoughts. Instead of a traditional screw-through the front endbell mount I'd like to do a clamp mount in the front and the back of the motor. This will allow me to easily remove the motor by taking out 4 bolts and lifting the motor straight up. The clamps will put pressure on the can but not too much to dent it, just enough to hold it firmly in place. I think this will be an easier mount to work with when I need to get to the clutch, etc.

This is what I do NOT want: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31009

I'm still looking for a picture of what I do...

Something like this? This is an HPI Vorza Flux mount.

That is exactly the idea, thanks.

The nice thing about this is the easy accessibility to the bolts to take it out. I just need to be sure to leave enough room between the front clamp and clutch to be able to slide the clutch out of the bell before the motor comes straight up/out.

look what just showed up at my door. This is by far the fastest any non-US hobby shop has shipped. I ordered this on Sunday!

Your on the right track. That clutch is interesting. Using a d wind motor is for people concerned about start off amp spikes. It solves the stall and take off amp spike problem pretty well. Most castle esc blew up because they sent out thousands of broken ones from the factory. Looking forward to see your car run.

Can you explain the d wind some more? From the description, the 5698 460kv I have is 4y wind I believe.

I was out of town seeking adventure in Moab, UT. If you've never been I highly recommend it.

I did make some progress on the motor mount. I have one clamp mount made out of delrin that seems pretty solid. I need two mounts though and so I'll make the second one out of aluminum. The only challenge w/ this phase is making sure the motor is perfectly centered w/ the clutch bell.

Here is a picture of the first mount. It's not actually bolted to the chassis yet, I simply put it there to take this picture.

Thanks, the leopard I'm using is 56mm in diameter so a bit too big for that mount.

This morning I made good progress on the second motor mount. I hope to have it done soon and I'll post a picture. The caveat w/ the second motor mount is that it's not exactly the clamp mount I had hoped. The driveshaft prevented that from happening. But I did still come up w/ a mount that can easily remove the motor.
