I don't know why this took so long. But here is the motor fan/heat sink and capacitors:

I still haven't run it yet to see if any of this cools it down.

you and me both.

So I put a spark arrestor on the esc negative power wire so it's not like 4th of july connecting the battery. But I used the only resistor I had laying around, 1k ohm. It's a bit too much b/c it takes about 1 minute to charge the caps before I can finish plugging in the battery. I need to get about a 100 ohm resistor and redo it.

I just drove it around my street for 4 mins doing as much WOT as possible. The temps were lower than I've seen them but I'll reserve judgement till I can do a full battery test. The nicest feature about the motor fan is I can leave it running when I'm done driving and let the motor still cool down. If that fan survives the dirt I might just get another one to put under the ESC to do the same.

Pulleys showed up today!!! The belts arrive on Thursday. I'm not going to jump into that one till next week. I need to figure out how much permanent modification it's going to take to pull off. I'm pretty sure I have to do make changes to the gear case/wall thingy that holds all the bearings. Or maybe I make a new one so I can switch back to gears quickly in case there's an unexpected track opportunity.

I just noticed I'm now a senior member. And to think I started this build just over a month ago.

The thingy is the gear plate. :)

A second plate all setup might be kinda cool.

Gear plate, that's right. Thanks, I was drawing a blank. I'll have to look at making a belt specific plate. I guess we'll call it the belt plate then. But then that wouldn't really open the door to others. Maybe I prototype the belt version out of delrin and see if it can be adapted to the stock one.

Awesome. Keep us updated on the gear plate! Curious to see what you come up with.

I just found this image

I'm thinking something like this w/ an adjustable tensioner so the ratio can be changed up.

I need to come up w/ a way to use a longer D shaft:

I just noticed in the image there is a keyway for the tensioner i.e. it's adjustable.

The belt used looks narrower than what I ordered. But I guess it's better than being thicker ;)
