Sorry if I’m not posting/replying correctly never really joined any forums. Have read many. Might be first time posting?? Think I was on a Barra Turbo one a few years back but that would be it.

Gday,
that I am. Purchased a new Stihl 661 couple months back while on sale and I can’t believe I haven’t even checked the air filter after a few tanks… I know what will happen 😂
Good deal. They make better filters for them. Oiled foam aftermarket.

Bought property 2yrs back loaded with an extreme hardwood some needs clearing and purchased to what it seems a Husky copy dirt cheap. Done a few mods and just got sick of heli coiling everything along with poor ergonomics leaking fuel tanks vibrations ect. Did put my mates Husky to shame ummmmhis was about 120cc can’t remember the model. Bought another copy same thing and oiling issues I couldn’t be bothered modding. Last new saw I bought before these was a Partner which was new sitting on the shelf for 20yrs about 15yrs ago: That was a well built tough machine. Twin filters washable ect standard:

So how did the little China model go in the end?
Looks like we got another one.
Into saws , toy cars and not afraid to mess with stuff. You'll be right at home here.

and welcome if I missed that earlier.
Thanks for the welcome…Definitely feel at home. It doesn’t end with chainsaws, RCs it extends to my Harley, boat, leaf blower kids toys and even the 1953 Massey Ferguson has a new Chinese turbo and Chinese copied Corolla carby sitting waiting to be boosted.

Thanks for the welcome and honestly when I searched for info on the reed valved engine and I saw you guys sharing info on a new motor getting pulled down and improved along with, methods of timing advance, air gaps ect it just made my day.

Reed engine is now destined to replace the rovan 36 in my baja shorty q as my next project after I finish the carbon chassis baja.
Seems to have good power (but I still doubt the 11HP claim).

Bolted the engine back together with the hybrid crankshaft ( DDM Zenoah stuffed crank cheeks , Original slotted and drilled con rod), lightly ported the cylinder and cleaned all casting flash out of ports : fitted new Akill lightned piston with port window .
Pasted all gaskets with Yamabond on build up.
Bolted to mt test stand and it fired right up on fourth pull .
Seems very smoothe and responsive.
Running a few tanks of fuel through it at the moment and tuning the carb.
Initial impressions are very good.
What exact crankshaft did you end up using as a dona

What exact piston did you end up using where did you purchase it wouldn't mind giving that go

Hi.
I used a DDM 30mm stuffed crank which I split and used the original rod in.
Piston is an ESP reed piston with port cut outs.
Reeds are carbon, other than a light port and blend , it is standard.

Had the engine running on my test bed again today , seems very very nice runner and great starter. I think it is very well made out of the box , big bearings and slotted con rod , carbon reeds and so on : I only changed the crank and piston as I wanted stuffed crank for less crankcase volume , and piston because I wanted a port window in it . Ports just need a bit of clean up and knife edge , removed quite a bit for casting flash out of ports , but absolutely worth the price .
I know loads of people on here will hat it as it is not made in the USA , but I don`t care.

Not sure about 11 HP , but seems very clean running and crisp on take up . I have a 36 rovan , and it feels much more lively.
going to run it on my SC truck this spring , so will see how it goes.
11hp WowZers! Not with those stock ports! Lol. Wish we coulda seen it run stock so we can get an idea what kinda power it makes. Many don't have the ability to do what you did to it. Have to look up and see if there's any
running vids of one stock. I need a motor, think I may try this one. Definitely will do some smoothing on those ports tho. Thx for info man

Hi. I see you are using an Akill reed piston. Does it come stock with a modified piston (windows or skirt mods)?
