I have been driving my FG Monster for more than a year now and I know the car more then well by now. I have always wanted an onroad FG aswell and yesterday I purchased an used one for a resonable price. Since I haven`t owned an onroad car before I have many questions. So here we go:

1) What are the most urgent upgrades to do if I just want to bash around parkingspaces?
2) What kind of diff do I want? The regular one, adjustable, self adjustable?
3) How much diff traction do I want on a onroad car? Should I have it almost locked or not locked at all?
4) Something else to think about?

It is the truck closest that I have bought (I will probably get it tomorrow). Maybe someone can tell me what model it is [&:]

well it appears as tho it doesn't have front brakes, but it is hard to tell from the pic. if it doeasnt, i would invest in that. trying to stop it is very difocult with only rear brakes. as far as the diff, i would up grade to the adjustable one. the problem with the standard diff is that it is not sealable so you cant put dif fluids in their. some have tried but its a waste of time and a real mess. without diff fluids and grease only you will get excessive wheel spin and will constantly be tuning the suspension trying to compinsate. you will still want the adjustable diff pretty lose compared to an off-road diff. set your self up with the front stabilzer too if not all ready installed. that will help out more then you would think.. if you plan on running in just normal un-prepped(dusty) lots then kick the rear toe-in in alot. i think i was running about 4* in the rear. sounds like alot but it will track straight and wont 360 at half throttle down the straights
it looks great. your gona love it. i miss my on-roads

Thanks for the answer :) Anyone who can tell which model it is. FG Sportsline -04, Ecoline, or some other model. Need to know since I will order some parts this weekend.

I would think if you are going to playing/running in a dusty parking lot, you may want some treaded tires? I don't own an on road, but I would imagine the slicks would slide all over when dirty.

the stock semi tires are amazing. you'll love the truck. mine sticks like glue. front brakes are a must, tuned pipe opened up the power, though I had a lot of fun with the stock pipe.... swaybars eventually.

I have both car and truck and the truck I will race anything with as it outhandles my car hands down. I love being able to fill, start, adjust carb etc without taking off the body... carbon side rails are also a good investment

Cool looking truck...I have always loved those semi's...That my be my next adventure
in 1/5 scale.....Slawhammer

Looks nice mate...1 thing i did see, is that it has the off road fuel tank in it?

Hi!

I didn`t know that there were different fuel tanks on the off and onroad? What is the difference between the fuel tanks?

I think he was talking about the solo tank, like on both of mine, with the gas cap screwing inside the tank and has vent lines instead of a breather cap... I can tell you if you forget to plug the vent lines on a hot day the garage stinks bad... (I had fans running with door open yesterday lol)

and how did you get straw around the head? running in the farm fields?

sure wish I lived close to you guys. a class of these trucks would be so cool to see going. all my buds see how much the truck bodies are and cringe, but they are so much cooler to run and easier to deal with. mine is flat up front so no bumper trimming and when I hit another car etc, nothing happens.... well except when I hit 1/10 scales silly enough to try head ons (I split a stampede in half)

the Cat is one of my fav bodies. I had 2 slot cars with that body

Hi guy's, ive just found that it's the cheaper FG's that have this tank, don't know why...maybe it does'nt vent as well as the flater tank...don't matter, a tank is a tank...

Pipeous, why do you call this tank a solo?

Ok....sounds correct since mine is a simple model with regular shocks (no oil) and so on.

Anyway, it goes super and I am very happy with it so far. I just installed a Zenaoh G260 and it might just be to much for the car to handle. It spins constantly :) I think I have to change the gearing in order to make the car more easy to handle :)

26cc has too much torque for on road use mate, thats why all on road's come with 23cc in them..

Yes, I know but the 23cc engine that came with the engine wasn`t so good såo that is why I chaged it into my 26cc. I might try to change the gearing on the truck and see how it performs.

had to order the tank and mount when I got the truck as it has none. the tank is called the solo, maybe because that was also the motor name? lol. but that's what it's called. the cap style is what we see in off roads, the vented tanks on roads.

I played with my suspension a lot. I use the big offroad shocks, some really stiff springs (really stiff in back) and used a stock offroad silver spring cut down to make a dual rate shock spring setup. mine is stuck to the pavement with the solo 23, tuned pipe and 2 speed. I swear it's the hard braking that's lossening my layshaft setscrew. I drive the piss out of it around our layouts
