large scale wont get huge, its always been a smaller part of the hobby. large scale is expensive, sure the redcat and some of the knock offs make it cheaper, but people often see them as 2nd rate cars, they would rather buy the real deal or not have anything. the next thing is what the rc hobby has in the last 10 years become. rtr changed the hobby in a big way, it got a lot more people into the hobby. the thing is, so many people have no idea how to work on anything, and they lack respect for what they have. the rtr is imo really what fueled our current smaller scale "electric revolution". they made electric as fast and have long runtimes as nitro, and it attracted so many people because its less messy, less noisy, and most of all, less work. the brushless stuff is so little matinance that nothing gets done, charge batteries and go. too many people got into that, and they talk bad about nitro, and well because it runs on fuel large scale has to be the same as nitro.
with the cost and the mentality of the new age hobbyist, large scale just has too much to keep more people away.
