Hello im new to large scale well im not even into large scale yet. trying to sell my racing blitz then buy a new redcat rampage xb. but my main question is does anyone see large scale getting huge in the next 5 or so years like short course is right now? i mean i want a large scale to have fun but also to race which makes me think y do people buy those little rcs when they can buy a large scale? i mean companys like redcat make it cheaper and hpi make it badass.

large scale wont get huge, its always been a smaller part of the hobby. large scale is expensive, sure the redcat and some of the knock offs make it cheaper, but people often see them as 2nd rate cars, they would rather buy the real deal or not have anything. the next thing is what the rc hobby has in the last 10 years become. rtr changed the hobby in a big way, it got a lot more people into the hobby. the thing is, so many people have no idea how to work on anything, and they lack respect for what they have. the rtr is imo really what fueled our current smaller scale "electric revolution". they made electric as fast and have long runtimes as nitro, and it attracted so many people because its less messy, less noisy, and most of all, less work. the brushless stuff is so little matinance that nothing gets done, charge batteries and go. too many people got into that, and they talk bad about nitro, and well because it runs on fuel large scale has to be the same as nitro.

with the cost and the mentality of the new age hobbyist, large scale just has too much to keep more people away.

i think here stateside, we are Just now seeing the upswing of Large Scales.
the baja has drawn in SO many New Hobbiests it not even funny. so here, i say yes, you ll see large scale get larger and larger. the baja plateform and all largescale rigs are on the upswing.

As our economy hits the shitter, more and more people will be looking to do more things at home, that cost alot less than say, going out on the boat for the weekend, or florida for a weeks family vacation. Statistically, people spend more time at home, but still want to have fun. i think Large Scale is a big untapped market here still, especially the off road side.

I think the Redcat XB price is going to swing alot of people into LargeScale. For $500, you can try it out and see if you like it. Then they will be hooked and continue to buy more largescalers.

I think largescale will get cheaper, and more popular, but I don't think it will ever be huge unless more hobby shops start supporting it, and more large scale tracks get built.

RussellRacing, where are you located? Largescale RC, in Indiana, is good place to order a Redcat. They are really great guys there and they ship free in the US.

LOL. Yeah, that would be a great way to get into largescale. Only $2 a ticket.

I would take a guess that "T" is right. In the states I think you will find this hobby in general get a bit better due to the economy here. When your down most people want a positive lift and our hobbies are what motivates it up.

I would also say after receiving the Tower Hobby catalog that our hobby is not much more then what the kids are spending on electric and nitro stuff and gas is cheaper too.
