I'm with Andy on a 5Ah NiMH 5-cell (5 x 1.2V = "6V") battery.
When fully charged they go over 7 volts.

I did go to 2S (7.4V) LiPo for a while, but with 4 servos, it proved too complicated ... so I reverted to NiMH 6V.

KISS, as they say.

i maybe jumping the gun a bit, but if all else fails, it may be in need of a new piston ring, a worn piston ring can cause a major performance drop if its well worn dude.

But id still say its running too rich which hopefully easy fix
