hi all, i wonder i anyone can help, when i put full throttle down on my marder it starts to die, its alright all the way through the revs until i hit full throttle then it just dies, can anyone help cause it doing my head in, if i turn the low speed needle out enough its ok but then it cuts out when i brake.
many thanks.

I don't know how old / well used your engine is, but it's either too rich or too lean.
Remember there are 2 needles - Low and High.
Low caters for idle up to medium revs, high thereon.

I'd count as you screw in the needles, then register for reference, then reset to 'factory spec' of 1 1/4 LOW; 1 3/8 HIGH.

All carbs are slightly different, particularly after use, with some heavy treatment, so there may be slight differences.

Sill questions:
1. Is the air filter reasonably clean - not blocked?
2. Is the breather OK - not blocked?
3. Is there fuel in the tank?
4. Is the cap well connected onto the spark plug?
5. Is the spark plug in good condition - not oiled up? (Check colour)
6. Is the spark plug loose in the head?
7. Are you getting a spark? Must be if it's idling OK.

Let us know hoe you get on.

Al.

thanks for the replys, i'm going to have another fiddle with it to see if i can sort it out, try and reset the carb to them setting, cheers atom3624, but if i can't i will definatly take you up on that offer mike1970.
cheers and many thank.

defo say its down to the tuning mate, as upto full throttle you say its ok so theres no leak or fuel block anywhere or it would do it right the way through dude.

I wouldnt touch the L needle just yet mate as your problem is only full throttle, the L needle will effect throttle upto about 1/2 throttle! so you may end up messing the whole throttle range up if you play with the L needle to begin with :(

Have a play with the "H" needle & as others have said, just a fraction of a turn at a time, if it goes worse then go the opposite direction on the turn of the H screw :)

as a starting point id say its too lean so turn it counter-clockwise to begin with this will richen it up, if it does go worse then im wrong!, so turn it clockwise & this will lean it, remember to give it a good run after each adjustment or you may miss the "sweet spot" altogether!

g/luck dude
