Has anybody tried to remove paint from the inside of a shell and been successful with what did you use. I want to buy a second hand shell and try repainting it.

I have seen a certain kind of brake fluid work. Jang from URC.com did it with mixed results, it left some fog, but on a simple paint scheme, it was barely noticeable...google it, I guess.

The main things, as you say are to Google it and check several attempts.
The other, as I've seen before, is you mention it was a bit fogged, so the next paint will never be perfect...
Never know, might get lucky.
Al.

I have used goof off it works great!!!! and have repaited the body after you remove all the paint wait a day and use goof off again on the clear body to remove any left over residue.

I used CRC carburetor cleaner to remove the factory paint from a Rampage XB shell, and it worked great! I used 1 1/2 cans, it power washes the paint right off, had no fogging issues at all!

Hey guys. New here. Bought a King Motor Baja recently on the cheap. It came with the girly fluoro body and I decided to try painting it plain white since I'm so boring. So I tried a citrus-based goo remover mixed with metho and it worked awesome. Bugger all elbow grease required and no fogging of the polycarbonate or anything. Except I got a surprise:

I thought they'd used yellow lexan but it seems the orange paint has seeped into the plastic?

Here's the main body almost done:

Crappy photo but you should be able to make out the clear stripes where some paint didn't color the plastic.

After painting the "hood" with white gloss:

And the main body:

Nice and white, LOL.

What is metho? Methanol? Sounds too much like meth. which isn't advised here stateside! I like the end results though, came out almost factory looking, even if it isn't the color you expected....

Haha I thought that might confuse some people. Metho is what we call methylated spirits, or denatured alcohol. I don't think it helped remove the paint but it meant not as much citrus cleaner was needed. In fact I probably only used around 20 ml of the cleaner. Very powerful stuff, and a lot less harsh on the environment than brake fluid etc.
