bored of orange but don't want to get me stuff powder coated....
is there anyway that i can get paint in a spray can?

and would i need to rub the metal down first before i lay down
the first coat?

cheers
Andy

yeah mate just key the surface with some wet and dry paper prime it the add your top coat but just remember it wont have the same effect or last like powdercoat or anodise and will scratch easy but you don't realy use your cars either do you little trebor

If you're painting ally, you'll need to rub down or get it acid dipped if you want perfect. First job then it to use etch primer and then a suitable paint & laquer if you want to go that far. I'd always suggest baking the new paint on but if you've got a small room, you could suspend the item infront of one of these,

which is pretty much what most paint shops use.

all i want is a new colour and where its getting painted is the front and rear
top plates and they don't get scratched because there hidden and the sides
aswell, might do the chassis too but that gets scratched to death anyways..

I want a stealth look! its going all black :D

Why don't you just remove the orange anodise and polish it ?

because thats to shiny for me! thats how i started off with bling then it turned into a shelf queen..... not going there again.... keeping it all black!

PJ1 FAST BLACK GLOSS ENGINE & CASE SPRAY

And for priming..

VHT LIGHT GRAY PRIMER ENGINE ENAMEL PAINT SP148

Going with engine paint because its strong stuff
so you think these products will do the trick??

im not one for shiney bits either :lol::lol:

don't forget paint will add thickness:rolleyes:

K....

unless you buy a flat finish paint it is still going to be shiney you tool :lol::lol:, how about just painting it with rhino liner (spray on pickup truck bedliner):D

nahh raptor that stuff is too heavy!! sum guy on hbf did that with his 5t body :w00t:

first i don't care about HBF the site owner is a tool and an admin nazi, second i am not talking about doing the body just the parts that are orange of course you could also use a black wrinkle finish. if you want stealthy it MUST be a flat (non glossy) finish.

oh sorry

Oh yeah it cant be glossy..... ok then flat black then :p

There are several household cleaners that will also strip anodizing, for example, here in the US we have Greased Lightning. These can work for you, but require some effort, or you can take the parts to an auto body shop or powder coat shop to have them media blasted. My powder coater charges me $10 to media blast a bicycle frame, so I don't think HPI top plates will cost you much, if anything at all. I really prefer to remove the anodizing completely as opposed to simply scuffing it because I find that the ano is a slick surface and in my experience the bare metal has proven to be more porous and offer better paint adhesion.

Just my 2 cents though. Good luck! :w00t:
