maybe someone who knows will chime in on the oven cleaner issue, i don't know, as i never done it. but it may harm the plastics, so u might wanna take off the alloy parts for that

You have to take the parts off to do this, the cleaner will weaken the plastic.....Also Greased Lightning works better and faster than oven cleaner. Just get the concentrated bottle of greased lightning and soak the parts and give them a shake every now and then then rinse off with water after done.

lol Lan......Would be funny if it was someone's baja you were racin aginst and their poop just falls apart.......lol.......Seriously though use greased lightning

That oven cleaner is some nasty stuff. There must have been a hole in my glove and my thumb was exposed to the cleaner. My skin felt like rubber for an hour afterwards! It was horrible. Now my thumb is really dry. Think I will switch to greased lightening. Have you tried purple power?

I have a gallon of purple power so I might try it on an old anodized piece to see how well it works. I'm still debating on removing the rear orange frame piece. I might just leave it orange or just leave it on and de-anodize the bottom and stay away from the plastics. I really don't want to disassemble that far, dying to drive it!

The purple power gave the aluminum a whitish haze, but I dipped the parts in some aluminum brightener and now its shiney! I'll get some pics up when I'm done.

Things are looking pretty good so far still need to get the orange off of the shocks. I tried to remove the orange brake assembly but the nut is spinning in the plastic. I'll wait until I have to remove the plate and drill it out.

If you can get a small screw driver under the screw to give a little push it will come out.
