im looked into buying a 30.5cc ported top end kit for my 29cc motor in my 30dnt losi 5t, ive been looking at the esp new generation high torque kit as ive heard its one of the best making roughly 5.5hp but was wondering if there is any other kits that are better or provide other advantages.
will the stock 997 be up to the task aswell?
will the stock 30dnt conqueror tuned pipe be a decent enough pipe to get the most from it or would something like VRC tuned pipe give me a decent advantage?

I assume you want to put the top end on the 29cc 30n engine?
Don't waste your time with a quality top end on a poopy bottom end, just buy a full ESP engine from DDM. Either the 30.5 or ported 32
I get what you mean but I can buy the top end kit for 200 pound from Rcmodelz, realistically to buy a zen 29 and the top end would be 500 for imo very minimal gains because I can’t find a prebuilt. I’m then over half way there to a Taylor RC 35cc which is what I plan to get a few years down the line when I’ve got the money saved. So overall imo I think it would be a waste of money

Aah your in the UK, didn't notive that.

You"ll see a big difference in performance just from a stock zen32, even more with a quality pipe like VRC, Bartolone, or Olimat

Yeah it’s between a new zen 32 and a ported 30.5 top end, leaning towards a 30.5 top end because I honestly really like the more high pitched screamy sound of the smaller bore engines compared to the 32. I may also be picking up a haha 5b roller in the near future which would accommodate a screaming 30 very well because they’re light I would probably then put a Taylor 35 or an esp 34 into my 5t

look for oneil brothers racing out of california,, obr,, u cant go wrong,, u can buy complete engines or ones without covers , flywheels etc to complete your own,, black friday deals going on now,,, think 30.5 full mod without covers etc is under 300 dollars,,, rated 7.5 hp.. and they have bigger,,, i run there 34 cc full mod reed in a baja,,, rated bit over 9 hp,,, a great runner,, reliable ,, and cheaper than alot of others i see out there

I agree, I had thr 30.5 fm in my baja and it was a beast for its size. The 34 Reed is even better but significantly more expensive.
Great bang for ur buck

I like the esp engines too I have a few of them. Doug does not over rate his engines power output like others do
If your in the UK maybe look into a Scott Finley ported engine or even the new Taylor rc engine

Yeah there's also OBR

You can pick up this 30.5 longblock nice and cheap atm. It's then just a matter of bolting on the parts from your 29cc, and leaving you with some cash for a good pipe?

That’s pretty tempting tbh, even if it doesn’t live up to 7.5hp if it can make 5.5 and be even with esp, at that point it’s a decision between a stuffed crank (what esp comes with) or a billet crankcase (obr)
I think I’m still leaning towards esp because imo a billet crankcase is a bit pointless whereas a stuffed crank would actually make a difference

Billet crankcases are nice because they have smaller ventilation holes reducing the chance of getting debris in your flywheel. You can do a mesh mod or get an outerwear’s for the case, but the billet looks cleaner.

If you’re up to it buy the Turtle Racing case, they have bearings pre installed and ESP top end build it yourself. It’s a fun little project.

oh yeah billet looks cleaner for sure but yet again for me it comes back to money, im on quite a tight budget because im a teenager, i'll have around £500 end of december which will get me an escp top end, vrc pipe and a crazy stu intake pipe with a ram air filter + outerwears. other than going for a billet crankcase that will pretty much give me all the power i can get from a 29/30.5 engine.
already got the full outwears pull start and crankcase set aswell which would be nice to not waste the crank case on considering i only got it a few months ago

I had esp engines with no billet cases and they ran phenomenal, also the 34cc esp I have in my 5ive-t doesn't have a billet case and I see no need for it. Billet= bling and for the billet cases your only going to get so much out of them because the engine still has requirements for it to run optimal so you can only machine so much out of it.

I know Z I like my shiny bits , but when it comes to performance if bling is going to keep me from running an engine with minimal gains I'll opt for a cast case.

Also i only buy the shiny bits when all that is left is the shiny stuff and my budget allows.
