ROOF LIGHTS MINUS ANY RECEIVER HOOK-UP HASSLES!

#1: Buy a set of roof lights. I picked up the following from eBay: AX-506W Multifunction Ultra Bright LED lamp for 1/10 and 1/8 RCHSP Carv18G7. Price: $8.22.
#2: Buy a pair of 9 volt battery holders with on-off switch, with lead wires. I got a pair from Amazon though I only needed one. Price: $6.30 Amazon Prime.
#3: A 9-volt battery

PREP:
#1: Snip off the receiver plug.
#2: Cut the BROWN wire--eliminate it altogether.
#3: Attach the RED wire from the 9-volt battery box, to RED wire from the lights bar.
#4: Attach the BLACK wire from the 9-volt battery box to the YELLOW wire from the lights bar.
#5: Install a 9-volt battery into the box. Swith it on. And you have lights.

PROS:
No receiver battery drain.

CONS:
You have to manually turn on your lights. The 9-volt battery is a bit of added weight.

You don’t have to do it that way and you can have remotely operated lights for the same cost.
Check out hobby king and receiver operated switches. They are used for drones but suit our purpose perfectly.

There was no room on my Redcat Rampage XR Hybrid (I converted it to a truck), but I attached the battery box with velcro on the inner roof. So when I take off the roof the battery-lights setup comes off with it.
