Just been for a quick bash with my mate Big J, he has just got his KM 29cc alloy version the same as Voo and myself. First proper run.
You'd prob of seen what happened to Voo's the other week and we've been blaming the Kill switch, Big J had a runaway :scared: with his this morning (no damage).
He like Voo/me was running with the standard TX/RX and was going good until he took a jump, on landing it just shot off, luckily :clover: J turned it and it flipped onto its back on full throttle.
When we got back we took out the receiver box and found the servos are working ok but the receiver seems to be intermitant, sometimes working then not, the steering side is ok, just the throttle.

Do you think the receiver is damaged after the jump or could it be something else. I have put foam inside my receiver box to help with the shock as soon as i got my car.
We have now taken both servos and TX/RX out and changed to Hitecs and Speky
The thing is mine so far has been solid and i'm trying to find the fault before it happens to mine.

Thoughts guys.

Get rid of it before it costs you a fortune. It will only cost you £60 for a new ansmann W3 set but could cost twice that or more if it ends up like Voo's :scared: don't risk it mate cos to me it sounds like a bad batch of receivers. I would also get on to rcmodelz & give em a bollocking & they might even stand you the cost of a new TX set. Funny how its happened to 2 out of 3 of you.....

yea i,d get in touch with rc modelz, they need to know, maybe even a recall on some models with the rouge radio gear, a runaway 5th is a serious matter.

DEFFO +1 on that mate !!
The Ansmann 2.4ghz radios are ace and they also work perfectly with the JackRC kill switches. A small price to pay to stop a potentially BIG and EXPENSIVE runaway.

Does sound like there may be some intermittent problems with the KM radio gear

Sounds like it's game over - problem found - bad batch.
Supplier must know and must act NOW!!
I feel more comfortable now, and will definitely be fitting a kill switch.
VERY sorry for Voo, happy nothing too serious happened to 'Big J', and let's hope this is the start of the end of it ...

No kill switch fitted then?

No kill switch fitted then?

Voo had 1 fitted to his & it went off on 1, kill switch didnt work & he ended up with a trashed KM. There seems to be an issue with the KM tx/rx set for these guys that all got them around the same time and from the same supplier.

Do you reckon rcmodelz will sort us out or what, going to send um an email right now anyhow.

You never know mate. At the very least it will stop it happening to someone else. Send em the links to the threads on here cos nobody likes bad publicity and if they sort you out it will do wonders for their credibility.

h,ell have to do somthing mate, before someone gets hurt, he seems to sell a lot of these buggys so its in his own intrest to sort somthing out, or sales are going to drop when word gets out, maybe its just a few , was jays from the new batch he got in ????????????

Keep us informed mate, only got my KM Baja 2.0 alloy version on thursday from RCmodelz, used it today for a tank of fuel with no probs.........but hearing the above gonna swap out the KM rx/tx for my Spekky DX3E 3ch, still waiting for my killerbee V2s switch

good idea , i seen voo,s buggy take off on its own it was ugly and has cost him neck end of 2ton to put right.

Sent them a email, told them i've been promoting the KM off them on LSF since i got mine, at least it'll prompt them to have a look into it and hopfully stop it happening to others, plus hoping they'll maybe change our TX/RX gear.

J's was from his last batch of KM's, he's swapped his radio gear to speky now from his other buggy. Think he had to take some Karms when he got home.:beta::lol:

yea he should change yea radio gear mate, but i think he owe,s voo a whole new buggy, i,am going to build a bunker at deeside to hide in , only joking

Let's get this right, KM is a 5B, but isn't, and saves you £300-400.
What's the problem in CHANGING the radio gear.
Don't hold out for the supplier until YOU have an accident!!
2.4GHz Ansmann is perhaps £60? Tx and Rx - and it's reliable - THAT'S A GOOD DEAL!!
This is a tad scary guys!! :scared:
But we all love our trucks - size, speed, noise  :gun_bandana:
Take care, AND ENJOY!!
Al.

+1 Al :cool2:

If you see the KM Baja then you would say it was a 5B, its not advertised as a 5b anyway, its like the FG baja isn't a 5b either.
I have a Ansmann 2.4 in my HPI Baja 5b, i have just taken it out of it and put it in the KM Baja as the HPI is out of action.

You'd expect, lets say a remote from a Tesco home brand tv to work at the same distance as say a sony tv remote.

:clown::clown: yeah but the tesco telly wont jump off its stand, do the wall of death round the living room & scare the cat before lodging itself in the fire place :clown::clown:
I see what you mean tho mate!!
