Well.. I finally got my shock ends that I needed from last weekend but didn't realize they didn't come with pivot balls in them.......>.< you guys know where I could order them or maybe what size?

LOS256004 is the part number. Large scale rc has them. Pretty quick shipping too. Took a week to put parts on a plane, go through customs and get to my door. I'm guessing two or three days for any domestic order.

So I guess you haven't had a chance to test the new shock oil huh? Mine seems better when I drop it from about a foot high. It would slap the bottom with the stock oil but seems good now with the "6500" I concocted lol. Three tubes of TLR 7000 and 50ml of Dynamite oil all blended together then loaded up each shock. I have about 50ml left of "6500". Coulda just used the three 7000 tubes but I wanted to make sure I had enough and it really didn't look like there would've been enough. Rebound is MUCH better. Maybe the shocks come with air bubbles or something causing hydra lock :/ I don't know, but it's much better now

Unfortunately no...I rigged my shock end yesterday with a nylon spacer. But ofc my shock fluid didn't even come till the end of yesterday after I already broke my front universal. Can post a pic... it shattered pretty good. Every where seems to be out of stock of them too...

Awwww that sucks. Someone better come out with some machined u-joints for these things. I bought a spare rear when I had the chance, just in case. You're the first I've heard that broke a front. I bet chassis flex is part of them snapping. The shafts could bottom out in the out drives of the centre diff, putting a strain on the joints under load. Just a theory :/

Oh I thought you meant the front centre shaft. No they don't have those in stock. If mine break ill just go with the dog bone set up. More reliable than cvd. LOS252001 and LOS252011

You like the regular dogbone more than the universal? The universal seemed like it was a little smoother with less play then the regular pin ones

I've never had a problem with dog bones. A bit more play with them yes, but more durable. Biggest waste of money on my exo terra. $90 for 4. Snapped one on the first jump it took. Put dogbones back in, never a problem with them. Cvd's on my 8ight but they're good ones. Seems the dbxl metal is pretty brittle cast/soft stuff.

Yeah I would agree. Surprised it broke though. I was driving in a rocky quarry with large rocks in them. Cruised up a hill with it and all of a sudden the diffs slipped in the front... unfortunate those universals are 35$ a piece... outrageous

I should try. I already emailed them about the throttle servo that fried up after 2 tanks...

thinking about it...I might just convert it to dog bones in the front like you're saying. dog bones are less than half the price as one universal.

Lawsi, you used a nylon spacer to mount your shock which is similar to what the 5ive uses instead of the ball. How is that working out? I am getting ready to mount 5ive shocks on my DBXL and have to go that route. I am thinking of using a 6mm bolt with fuel line??? There are carbon shock towers available now that would allow me to use the factory 5ive hardware but at about $70 each, maybe not!

It actually seems way more solid than with the pivot balls! I just went to my local hardware store and got the nylon bushing spacers. and then washers bolts and nuts. I'll take a pic of it when I get home. buy it's very very solid now

Another thing that's nice about not using the spacer is that you don't have the pivot balls popping out and stripping out the shock end where it holds it in. basically making the shock ends useless if you use the balls..

Kinda straying from the shock topic but Lawsi, did you adjust your throttle end points on the controller? I noticed on mine that there was way to much travel. I could hear the servo buzzing. It was trying to pull on a throttle that was already wide open. If you haven't done this, this is probably the cause of the burnout. Maybe not......just sayin lol k now back to shock talk
