Just purchased KM Baja with single speed. Is there really a need to do a 2 speed conversion or is it just a preference? Any opinions and suggestion are appreciated.

eehhh, i would differ on that,i have my gearing setup to where i'm faster then my buds 2 speed and my old 2 speed,he may take the start but i take em on the finish

Right I would agree with that on what you said I was speaking as in terms with the 2 speed out of the box and a single speed out of the box with no mods of course you can modify either one and be fast just how you do it

i have a 14/60 combo on one baja and 17/57 on the other, but with the stock engine and the drags pipes, they give alot of my buds who have baja's with better engines a run for that money they spent, i been asked if i ported or modded my engines because they don't believe they the stock engines, just i take my time to seal, and tune and re-tune my engines to get the best performance,
the 2 speeds have gearing options? i was not aware of that, i have never found any additional gear combo sets

No the 2 speed does not have gearing options on the mods I meant as for as a bigger motor, pipe and ect.

well thats not completely covered there will be a gap between the holder and that engine mount, i would be more concerned with your air intake and the carb base and mainfold gaskets, make sure those are sealed and you wont get any sand in the engine, also get yourself some outer wares for the air filter and the pullstart and seal the bottom air intake of the engine, try to keep as much sand out of vital parts as much as possible

Outerwares are on the way Thank for the info. As for the clutch cover i don't need it right now, i just figured since i had some cash.

and don't leave home without a killer B, call it 1/5 scale insurance. The KM 2 speeds are great to run but require allot of maintenance if you are going to beat on them in the sand and dirt. I have about 4 gallons thru mine and every outing I have to clean and oil the OWB to keep it working right, but to hear it shift and scream by you at top RPMs is music to my ears:)
