My rant: Wow Traxxas is behind their game for once! I bought news of the Ofna/Jammin announcement in August and Traxxas announced theirs in October. The Ofnas are supposed to hit the shelves first. I was sold on the beefy Ofna 4wd SC before Traxxas released news of their plasticky 4wd SC. Hopefully the Slash 4wd chassis wont break at the front like the similarly designed emaxx and erevo chassis and hopefully the shock caps wont blow off like on slash 2wd. The $400 slash 4wd comes with a 2.4ghz, h20 proof 3500 kv brushless system, traxxas servo and a 7cell 3000 battery, plastic towers, plastic chassis, plastic axles, only 2 diffs, unthreaded plastic shocks, no sway bars, plastic spur, and a prepainted body. The $250 hyper sc roller comes with metal towers, metal chassis, cvds front, dogbones rear, 3 fluid diffs, metal threaded shocks, sway bars, metal spur, and clear body for personalization. Those would all have to be purchased as upgrades for over $250 for the slash 4wd. Oh and all the same 2.4ghz, h20 proof 3500kv brushless system, traxxas servo and 7cell 3000 could be purchased new on ebay for $300 or less shipped. Lets see $650+ for a hopped up pieced together basher slash 4wd or $550 for a superior racer hyper SC that is ready to go. Sorry traxxas your 1/10 4wd SC is at least $100 too much! With the Hyper being $100 cheaper could skip buying the $25 traxxas servo for it and get a digtial hitec and a 5000mah lipo and still have $ left over! Its the same story w/the emaxx and erevo. By the time you build them right its cheaper to have gotten a real electric truggy or buggy. TRAXXAS LOWER YOUR PRICES! YOUR VEHICLES ARENT RACERS JUST BASHERS! In case you couldnt tell I plan on getting the ofna.

Wow, I didnt know about the ofna roller. Seems to be the better way to go. Rip the mamba max brushless out of my 2wd slash....

I'm gonna have to pick up one of those for Christmas for my kiddo. I sold his 5b, gutted his Slash, and haven't fixed his Mini-T so he's somewhat RC deprived right now. That OFNA kit looks like a good car to get him into racing without breaking the bank.

I like the idea of the H20 proof Traxxas brushless but they really need a PC link like castle to optimize the esc settings. Im hoping the wide off set front stampede vxl tires and wheels will fit on it so I can do waterproof winter bashing with a different body. On an interesting note Traxxas designed the slash 4wd so the castle monster max systems fit giving it 80+MPH top speed. That is cool but not for me. I had over $750 in my factory team rc10 t4 and it was worth every penny. Every well designed/hopped up/well built/well performing rc vehicle I have ever owned I got my money out of by constantly driving it. I hope the ofna is the same. $550 could buy you a used racer brushless 1/8 SC, buggy, or truggy with everything but a 1/10 will have better response due to the much better power to weight ratio. I have a brushless SC8, brushless RC8T, and a brushless RC8 SC conversion and Im sadly betting the 1/10 will outperform them. Nitrohouse.com has the ofna listed for 250 but if tower sells it you can knock off 40-95 dollars (if your a member) depending on if you get the truck on one order and accessories on a second. Tower has the slayer 4x4 listed for $400 and is elegible for 60 off if your a member. Is your Rampage worth the small fortune you spend on it? I know mine is.

Yeah, I drove a prius for 2 weeks and got 56mpg tank average over 2 weeks! For some people (not me though, Pt cruiser gets 25-26mpg but is $12,000 cheaper) that car would pay for itself in gas savings.

Are you guys following these? The ofna price went up like $30 and now traxxas is releasing a slash 4x4 platinum edtion. Oh and 1/8 buggies can be converted into 1/10 short course. I have a sc8 that is 1/8 scale and my rc8sc is 1/10 scale. Ill take a pic next to the platinum slash and ofna sc soon so youll see.

I was just doing some Slash 4x4 research for the platinum. I was skeptical about the plastic chassis breaking where the emaxx and erevo chassis breaks and I was right. Also the bulkheads are breaking and something about the axles. The hyper 10 sc does not have a sealed radio box and uses velcro for battery straps. Im going to wait for the jammin scrt10 so far it seems the best and will be more upgraded and raceworthy ( mostly due to way lower center of gravity) than the slash 4x4. It even has a sealed rx box. Its 210 for the chassis (with 60 off at tower) and then Im going to add the traxxas waterproof velineon system for 130 new(ebay). The platinum slash still needs upgrades to race stock but the scrrt10 does not. For now Ill drive my rc8eSC and maybe if a 1/10 4x4 SC class starts here I can race it as its the same size.

if pro 4 takes off here, i'd get the jammin, it's based off the crt.5 which is a very good design, with lots of upgrades and plenty of brushless conversions done already so we know it can take the power. the hyper sc is a stretched hyper mini st, which is also a nice machine, but in my opinion isn't quite all there compared to the crt.5 the traxxas is based on what? as far as i know, they have never done a chassis or driveline like this. it may be light and efficient, but i doubt its durability, especially with its modular design. 4 screws hold the front and rear onto the chassis, be prepared to gather chunks of your truck off the track.

I have the Ofna, it's a sweet kit. so light, jumps well. I am going to race it stock aside from moving the front upper shock mount out one hole on Jan 9th

Why are you moving the front upper shock mount out one hole on Jan 9th? It seems like something you could do today.....lol

Yep thats why I said jammin scrt10 is the way to go. The slash is a mix of new parts, nitro revo, erevo, slash 2wd, rustler, etc, etc, good design but not the highest quality materials, just unfinished, unrefined, needs more parts and $ to finish the platinum. The platinum is closer to finished but still needs a few parts which haven't even hit the market yet. Stock its more of a fragile basher (like all traxxas products) than a strong racer. Every stock traxxas product out there needs $ and parts to keep from breaking/wearing out under even light bashing.

smart ass LOL. and it is done. team tip. keeps from too much up travel if you hit a wheel after jump, so cvd's don't bend. only real mod I did.

I feel the same. I had a slash I picked up to race. it was used. I was on amain adding items to my cart. by the time I had added the xtreme chassis, rpm bits, a new body to paint, tires, wheels etc, I was only $30 less than buying the new ofna kit. so I added another $2 part and my discount went from 12.50 to 25 off. so really I paid $20 more to race a new 4wd kit over a mildly hopped up slash. pulled my electronics, sold the slash for cheap locally and all the electronics are now in my ofna... was just a smart move to me

Ok heres my RC8scE next to the slash platinum 4x4. I think they should be allowed in the same class. The RC8scE has way more traction. They jump about the same when jumped correctly but the RC8scE is easier to jump correctly. Myself and a few others can get around the track faster in the RC8scE. Its just easier to drive fast. The slash 4x4 just constantly feels on edge when driven fast and spins out way more. Now I gotta get my hands on a scrt10.

The last 2 pics are the slash 4x4 body on the rc8sce. And there is a pic of the 4x4 body over the rc8sce body. The last pic the body is a little high because it doesn't have holes for the posts it only has the 4x4 hole. The rc8sce was built by taking a sc8e and swapping the truggy chassis for a buggy chassis. Buggy center braces, cvds, and steering links are also needed.
