So a lot of you guys have multiple 1/5 scales. I have a question...

Specifically asking about SCTs. 5ive-T Vekta5TT, MCD W5, etc. How big of a difference is there in brands, really? I'm not asking about just performance either. I mean parts availability, upgrade availability, how easy is it to work on? Is there a lot of space to set up different kinds of builds?

Honestly, I don't even know all the brands. The 3 I mentioned are pretty much the only ones I know about, other than like Rovan.

Far as I know
The 5iveT & Baja win the upgrade and part availability

The others will eventually become damn near impossible to get upgrades and parts for
You think that will apply to the vekta 5tt? Kraken seems to be pretty widespread in 1/5 scale these days. I know it's still a small fraction compared to the 5ive and Baja, but it doesn't seem like they're THAT small.

Depends, you never seem to know what will last or die off. The baja is basically being kept alive by rovan and the aftermarket at large. The mtxl just got the axe a bit ago. Funny how things work out like that.
This is one of the reasons I want a 5ive. It's everywhere. Well... actually it's nowhere right now. It's out of stock everywhere lol.

As far as I know l, DDM took over kraken. Most kraken stock parts blow from my gatherings. I don't see aftermarket parts going down hill though anytime soon though as the market is still large for them.

As far as aftermarket, losi and baja have that. A losi handles different than a vekta being it's a solid rear axle.

I'm doing an outlaw now, see how I like it once it's done. Kind of depends on your power goal and what you want. Outlaw is pretty heavy, and really needs a good powerplant to make it move well
Oh for sure. I was thinking either a 5ive with the 65 supreme or the outlaw with the 80 supreme. I honestly feel like the 71 and 80 are a bit overkill for the platform though unless you're only interested in straight-line speed. We need something even bigger to put it in. Like a big heavy monster truck of something. :ROFLMAO:  I mean the never-ending wheelies are cool, but even a 65 can pull the front end up on an outlaw.

If I change my mind on the one that a friends holding for me,I might have one for sale.
It has a Full mod OBR 30.5 Engine, not sure on other upgrades.

how much are you will to to spend, if you get the 5ive B all said and done. you are looking at 1500, being easy.
the 5ive T is a BND meaning it is has everything but a radio, spektrum.1300$ plus a radio. one of the best out there.

Then you want to go cheaper look at the 5th scale electrics, i believe you not not need anything but a 2s lipo charger.

Now if you have 2200 - 2500 go with MCD they are from europe.

I've heard MCD isn't very reliable without dumping a good bit of $$ into them. I also haven't seen many sites that sell parts for them since I'm from the US and they're an EU brand.
