just bought myself a dx3-s and got it all binded up etc but i am very PISSED so far about it,to be fair it is a stunning radio in everyway apart from this crap range!!!!! i got it with a SR300,and was dissapointed with a range of around 100yards 'if even' if i walk to the side of the house the fail safe comes on!!! this is not on at all, i then changed recievers to the SR3300T and thought that this would improve matters for me........nope exact same,i am using it on an FG monster model, antennas are as extended as i can put them....i'm baffled about this......should i return it?? ;((

there was another thread on here the other day some guy had the same problem. it had somthing to do with the reciever. but it must be anoying getting somthing with such a good name and then it works as well as an old analog one.

it is a fantastic radio but so far the range is gutless,i must check the reciever box now and see can i extend the antenna any longer, maybe this may be contributing too to the problem.i am reading a lot of negativity on various differnt forums tonight about this radio though which does NOT help matters.mmm must find out more info,i have shoot a mail to horrizon hobby anyhue so will see what happens!! ;( please if anybody else has more knowledge here on these radios please offer it up. thanx

i run with a dx3s and im using the telemitry rx in my bug its range is ok for me and where i bash but it could be better, the none telemitry rx is meant to b much better on range i haven't tried this as of yet might give it a try soon ive not even opened the spare rx that comes with handset

i think mine was around £150 its a nice handset light and just feels right to hold/use i was stick only for years and switched over from a sanwa gemini 2 but this feels like ive allways driven a wheel set plus it come with the non telemitry rx as well

:rolleyes:this radio is utter rubbish and i am currently battling with horizon uk to get a refund and they are not so terribly nice to deal with either,i won't accept and if i don't get my refund in full they will regret it as if my new leopard does a runaway they will be paying me out more.

i loved the radio when i got it as it is lovely to use and set up but my god....what a crap radio, the range is gutless!!!!
verging on dangerous`may i add....

to top it off it's all over the internet that this radio has problems, losi had it planned to release the new 5t with spectrum
dx3-s and they changed there minds, i wonder why:o

i had the same issue with my dx3s and i extended the antennas on my recievers to about 10 inches long and have not had range issues since

how can you extend the antenna on a 2.4ghz? they are supposed to be short!
don't tell me you just soldered on extra wire? if i wanted to do this i can pay nothing cause i paid for a working radio!!!

I had the same problem when they first came out,my 3300T failed after a month. The replacement had range issues then failed. Both times they were replaced under warranty.

I purchased a 3000T receiver and it worked trouble free for a year til i sold it with the car.
I hadn’t heard of any issues in using sr300 receivers.
If you run a 3000,3001 or 3100 you should not have range issues.

no i unsoldered the wire from the board then soldered on a new wire that was longer. worked just fine for me. and yes i know 2.4 wires are supposed to be short but talking to an electronics engineer he figured that 3 inches was to short and suggested lengthening them. i have a good 200 yrds now i can go with no issues.

No offense but all spektrum suc lol, iv got a flysky fs-gt3b $65 and i drive my baja out of sight and its never lost signal, so i don't understand why those expensive radio's from spektrum loose range so qiuckly, If you going to spend big bucks you should of bought a futaba 4pl, 4pk ect ect even the 3 series are great

the best radio i have used yet is futaba 3pm 2.4 just superb, even my cheap maverick 2.4 is superb compared to this spectrum,i hate spectrums always have,my missus bought me a new dx3 when they first came out and it done a wild runaway with my fg at 40mph almost destroyed it,they are garbage

you shouldn't have to touch a thing, after paying for it and plugging in the reciever it came with anything else is too much bother for this POS of a radio

I have had 2 spektums and one did have range issues which i fixed
Truthfully you are correct, you buy something new and it should work without issues or need fixing, spektrum seems to have too many issues from different users.
It shouldn’t be the case of scoring a good one or a bad one.

ive heard the dsame thing at so many bashes ,the owners of the speccy s always complain theres no range, i have a flysky gt3b and it has great raNGE,JUST BOGS, NEVER had a problem,£35 quid delivered, also use a 4pk which is top,but i wont get rid of the flysky,i like it too much, flysky are bringing out the gt3c, check them out, they look great in silver or champagne!!!

I had 4 dx3's in the past....not one of em had what i'd call a long range, quite the contrary..about 120m tops i reckon...many times i had to walk closer after losing signal to get it to go again...with my nomadio react i i can drive out of sight and still have signal, with a speccy rx running with the react the range is back to rubbish...I suspect the rx's are cack more so than the radios
everyone else round here runs futaba pk3's or 4's and have no range issues...

The only reason so many spektrum radios that are floating around the place is losi had ready to run which had the radios in the kit.
If anyone runs on a race circuit then range will be ok or get a better receiver for long distance.
DO some research..Plenty of info around on the net on how to fix the problem.
