I just learned of a new facility about 12 hrs drive from me. I'll be making a trip to Alberta at least once this year to make the rounds. Fri night racing on road, Sat at one off road track, Sun at another off road. Go away winter. I want to start racing again.

great stuff, there's a club forming in my state which im looking foward to being apart of, never done large scale racing so really looking foward to it.

just started a engine post, my fg with the newish zen sucked in some dirt over the weekend, cleaned the carby, filter housing and filter and ran a tank, still revved normal etc so unsure how much ive hurt it.

i never let my filters get super dirty, usually when the inner foam starts to show the slightest bit of dirt they both come out, get washed in kero and then re-oiled.

im very tempted to try the outlaw set up though :D

ran another tank on sat, 35+ degrees. I think the revs have dropped off slightly but this is prolly me just being paranoid. I ran with Greg and he assured me the engine is fine, still looking and sounding great, so i wont stip the engine down and keep running it.

something seized up in the front end, initially thought it was a bearing. it was time for a complete strip down again anyway so i spent 1.5 hours in the garage last night and took it down to a chassis. found the problem, the two belt pulley/guides have two bearings on each, one on either end, both of them have melted the plastic pulley/guides again, this happend on my last tear down which was only 15 or so tanks or so, pretty dissapointing.

from what I can tell the bearing is getting so hot its melting the pulleys and then seizing up the pulley from turning, so instead of the pulley turning with the belt the belt just slides over the over the pulley causing more friction and heat!

ive ordered two new pulleys (only $20 for both) and some rubber sided bearings, hope these generate less heat, there's no alloy pulleys which would have fixed the problem but hoping that the better bearings do the trick. Ill get some pics up tonight of the failed pulleys to show what I mean.

The rubber sided bearings that I got for the belt tensioner is holding up great, still super smooth and quite.

Also bought a outlaw filter set up and v stack from a member here so going to try that out when I get it back together, haven't had the filter off yet to see how the grease mod worked out but was only racing on grass so not much point i suppose.

bearings don't tend to fail in a big way, instead they just run rough for a bit, then start creating high friction and heat. The heat trnds to make a mess of whatever the bearing is mounted in. Changing to better sealed bearings should sort this out for you.

for the record, I investigate lots of train axle bearing failures at work, except when thease fail the heat can cause the axle to also fail, which is a bit of a problem at 125mph. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-10883560

thanks fellas, continued with my rebuild last night, got everything off and cleaned.

got the rear diff, diff housing, rear suspension mount and belt running back on the chassis last night, waiting on some pulleys for the front end.

went to put my v-stack and outlaw on last night but I didnt have the right bolts, going to pop into a bolt shop and see if I can get some. the head on my bolts are too big and don't go into the recess on the v-stack.

I took some pics of the failed pulleys last night but forgot my usb cable so cant load them up until tommorow.

haven't put any thought into that to be honest, and if it happens again im getting alloy housings, got the alloy pulleys now.

just got back from the bolt shop, got some half threaded bolts that fit in the recess on the vstack, don't know if they will work as I think more needs to be threaded but wont know till I try.

bugger ! forgot my USB cable again, no pics today sorry.

on a good note though the bolts I got yeasterday worked, they needed to be cut down which I did, now vstack is hooked up and new outlaw set up is on the engine, looks allot more fool proof that the stock FG setup.

just waiting on new hostiles and outerwears and I can continue the rebuild :D

ive never run them before, just liked the look of the tread pattern, heard a few good reports from other members and the price wasnt bad.

my previous tires were Rovan bow ties on despo rims, they lasted long, over 50 tanks! but werent very grippy on hardpack, im confident these will be allot better.
