Spur gear question

I have a hpi Baja 5t with stock gearing .the spur gear is hostile..I want a little more torque,so would gearing it help?what spur and pinion would I need.thank you jason

Honestly I'd get a modded top end for it, always thought the stock 26cc engines lacked the oomph to get these rigs going.

Smaller pinion, larger spur, smaller tires. Any one or combination of those will give you more low end power. Changing the pinion has more impact than changing the spur.

You can also try to make the rig lighter. Get better bearings (wheel hubs etc...) - reduce friction, use lighter weight diff oil. Aimed at reducing power losses.
