Hi guys, i've recently put my MT back together, after about 8 months of it being in bits (never found the time thanks to uni)
I bought a Castle link BEC as i fried a new rhino last year, and also a killerbee killswitch.

I put the killswitch on and the damn thing wouldn't start, after a while of messing around i found a broken solder joint connecting the green connector block on the switch  I've sorted that out thanks to MMR, but at the time i used an old failsafe i had which previously worked fine.

I've now got a problem (with or without the failsafe) of the receiver(and BEC) LED occasionally blinking from red to green, giving no power to any servos, except a new brake servo which tries to go round and round one way in stages.
This whole issue has caused some pain, as before i knew the problem i was running it and lost control of throttle and brakes, only had steering, and ended up using myself to stop it (well i didn't want to damage it!) lol, i now have a bent kcr front bar courtesy of my ankle :w00t:

I'm still unsure of how that happened, as when the receiver and BEC lights blink red and green, i get no power anywhere, yet i had steering?
Failsafe issue maybe? though it was tested before it was taken out.
I don't have another futaba receiver, though i might nick the g/f's annsman w3 and try that.
I've shortened the Y harness i used, i'll be double checking that as well. BEC is set at 5.8 volts.
It won't be going anywhere until i'm confident i've found the problem.

Any suggestions peoples?
Thanks
James

well I had problems with my tb2 like this. my servos would lock up. bec would shut down. servos were drawing too much power. I even tried 2 bec's in parallel and no good. I had to swap out both my servos for hitecs. try disconnecting one servo at a time and see if you can make it happen. process of elimination to see if it's a bad servo

I've been going through a similar 'headache' !!
My receiver's finally croaked, as I've got 2 Rhinos and 2 Savox 1256TG fitted to it. The Savox is a 20kg cm servo (277 oz in).
I bought a Rx bypass wiring harness from Hobbythek some time ago, permitting power direct from the battery. Never got round to fitting it.
I'd read the Rhinos are sensitive.
In contacting Hobbythek they reminded me of the voltage stabilisers, and LRP do a 6V / 10A stabiliser 45010. This can accept up to 8.4V input.
I then took advantage to 'complete the upgrade' and bought a 90 Euro 7.4V 5Ah LiPo 'hump pack - very neat - again from LRP, model 79935.
NEW PROBLEM !!
LRP are a very highly respected marque, but even THEY are mixing connectors!!
The stabiliser has red 2-pin sockets / jacks, but the battery jack is the black flanged 3-pin - same as the wiring harness.
Obviously the battery output has to be stabilised before input into the harness - thus powering the servos - so I've very carefully trimmed back the battery power jack to fit into the stabiliser ... ... ... all fits perfectly.

NEW PROBLEM!!
The balancer jack out of the LRP LiPo is non-standard, and I had to refer to other LiPo batteries to ensure I didn't consider charging with reversed polarity, which would be a disaster!!

Oh for standard fittings everywhere!! One day I suppose, but not just yet.

Dragging my dead thread up, apologies for not replying, been a bit busy, though seems i'm not the only one having issues!

I've since found my problem to be the BEC i'd fitted, it decides to 'reset' itself sometimes on servo usage, which when i was running it, effectively froze the failsafe, which was working on the throttle/brake servo's :w00t:

It doesn't ALWAYS do it, and sometimes does it under no load at all

and now i seem to have a duff servo, which wasn't before!

It's a Castle Creations BEC who've said to remove my receiver switch, which i have and its still no different, (waiting on their next reply)

I don't want to run without it, my batteries giving out about 6.25v and i've already had a rhino blow when it was new, but i can't run with it either!

are there any others which can be recommended please? as this is driving me insane

Cheers guys

James

6.25v shouldn't be an issue, because when put under load the battery voltage will drop a bit.

It's probably just the servos pulling too much power, which can happen when stationary because of the current draw at stall when they are holding position (i.e. the slight buzzing you can sometimes get).

Try what Pipe did, and use 2 in paralel or use a smoothing bec (which basicly has a BFO capacitor in it)

does it do it with the bec removed? process of elimination. remove items until you find what is causing the issue. castle CS is top notch. if it's the bec they will replace it...

one thing with castle bec's you have to watch is the wires at the pc board. I always put a blob of shoe goo at the ends of the pc board. those thin wires can break off after a bit of back and forth and can short inside. the goo prevents that
