Suggestions on kids first car

I want to get my nephew (4yrs) a electric truck to learn on. I know nothing about e rigs just know I need something durable and capable of going over grass. Suggestions?
 
Traxxas Stampede 2wd is a great starter truck. Easy to work on...tuff and you can get it ready to run w a charger and battery for little over $200. Parts are super cheap and readily available as well. You can also set the ESC to training mode to dial it back (highly recommend doing this for someone so young). Once he gets good at driving...bump it back to normal and it will be like a whole new truck to him.
 
My eldest sons first RC (and now my 3 year old is starting to use it) was a BSD Baja. I bought it second hand for £40 and its been abused endlessly and ran over by the 5th scales more than I care to remember, its had different wheels put on from truggy wheels to buggy wheels, its been 3s brushless and back to brushed a hand full of times and it just keeps on going. Parts are cheap, pair of front arms with pins and pin holders £7, new complete gearbox with motor mount and including spur £15, front bumper £3. That's all that's been replaced in 2 years of abuse and those parts came from manufacturer website.

Its 2wd with the motor out the back, plastic construction but is good fun and cheap, radio has taken a beating too from being dropped many many times by small hands.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I think his first should be a 4wd so I'm liking the truck misterleon suggested. Looks very capable.

it comes with the standard traxxas trigger and wheel tx. its a good rig. easy to find replacement parts. once my son masters the controls ill put in a lipo and brushless motor. he should be able to have fun with it for a good couple years.
 
latrax is very small, he will have fun with a stampede until he is 10, there are so many upgrades and brushless systemes avalable. Go with the Stampede and you will not regret it, latrax will be fine until he is like 5/6
