yeah i got the 20/44 gear set but going out on stock first just to see how different it now is,they can be canged quick on mine so ill take them with me,im going to use it as soon as wagons free for filming, plus i don't want to use them both untill after fri as there both having a photo session as the owner/mate from the tatshack tattoo studio wants to get some pics of both cars together, but im gagging to use the bug
you will see a good difference but stock ratio wont do it justice.might just wheelspin until you hit full revs with that power, but i know you can manage that with your skills lol.
a stock motor with a good pipe can hit top revs on 16/48 straight away anyway.
i bet if you used 22/42 with the smaller lay of the bug,you will be very surprised of how little bottom end you loose and alot of top end increase.
you loose no acceleration as the wheelspinning is calmed down meaning the traction is better. i tried it once with my marder.me and a mate had same gears, raced and was equal,i went up 2 teeth and we raced again.basically we both pulled off kneck and kneck until we hit about 25mph,and thats when mine left it!that was with a stock engine, imagine that with your new motor!
just to put it in perspective, with 22/42 gears i can hit full speed in around 4.5 seconds , so the high speeds will be achieved even in small places.
you now have a very impressive set up.
i was checking out a quick release engine mechanism for the marder,i have one on hormann and can swap gears and engine within minutes.

ive started buying gears when i can ive got a few now 16t 18t 19t 20t 22t 24t but only got 46t 44t 40t so theres a few things i can try but i will end up with all can ratios i can, on the bug it cost me 70 odd euros just for the 20/44 plus the alloy center mount im after a plastic 42t if you want to sell one its for the on road

ive got most ratios for the fg,im getting 28/36 made and 18 layshaft(top speed run) i get thenm off troy(herbie ebay, blackbone steel). if you need, let me know and i can get you them at a good price.obviously don't need carriers with these and no need to use dredded grub screws.try the touring gears on your bug with marder tyres if you get a chance.when i use 22/42 with obr it still wheelies, with stock engine it pulls a wheelie now and then with 20/44. good luck mate.
i don't want to sell my 42t gear, but if you pm me your address i will send it you f.o.c mate
once you get the 42 t gear, you will have all you need unless you try the touring wheels on bug, then will need higher.
i bet that bug can achieve around 75/80mph with right setup.

in a few weeks i may look at getting a couple once i find ratio thats suits my driving style and the engine but toy fund piggy banks on empty,,im going to be stocking up on spares for the bug this year ready for lsor event in 2013 if its there again,,but me and neil spoke to the owners son and he said its was booked up for next year and they were well happy with the event so me and neil will be going and racing touch wood

sounds good mate, see if you enjoyit.ive tried the track at notts a few times,i did enjoy it but if i was to go more regularly,i wouldnt give up bashing.both a fun when things don't brake.

its totally different to bashing thats for sure id like a go but bashings just pure no presure fun ripping up grass or laying down rubber which is what both my cars are built for

sats the day mate if all goes well im going for it,gotta be done some time the thing thats going to be hard its been the same for so long and id just got were i could handle it ive gone and changed it,its now a different car better bigger brakes more power and 15 maps of oddified goodness

got hold of a nice thick bit of alloy from wagon today which was perfect to use as bracket for ecu,,,,,so got busy with the pillar drill and jigsaw made it,,then drilled both cars alloy cage/brace in suitible places out of harms way but more important fixed solid with 2 bolts taped into the m&r cage/brace,only takes 5 mins to swap over between cars i will be getting some double sided tape like what hold car mirrors up at mo its just cable ties with a small slice of foam under ecu

ecu is now set on map 12 as ian has recomended for the 29,for the map setting you hold a magnet in the top left corner of the ecu then start engine it will the start going through the maps when you get the map you want remove magnet and it will stay on that map simple,i done this on the on road as its easy to start and hold the magnet in place at same time, were the bugs gotta new engine it would be near impossible to do as its got a ton of compression,so were all set for tomorrow if weathers good or not raining to much

right had it started but small issue with pullstart spring letting go so fixed this and let it tick over for 5 mins in garden no donuts this time, when i went back indoors i noticed a load of white dust from the clutch what was slightly draging on clutchbell but now its fine and free so must have been small bit touching somewhere have double checked everything ready for tomorrows run,but just bliping throttle its just instant no bog just go and 6+ hp worth of oddie goodness

cheers trebor

but its pissing down here aswell not looking to promising but if it eases up im going to go for it all depends if wagon wants to get his mcd wet we will see

lol, don't tell us about map 12, show us , i want to see what this engine is like mate.like i said, ive seen the 26's that have been ported for racing but this 29 should be a bashers dream!
get used the the pullstarts mate, the obr has loads of compression ive been through 3 pullstarts already. spring come loose, string snaps and pawl breaks, just ordered a metal pawl version . you definatly shouldnt get bog with a 29cc oddie and short ratio mate,i wouldnt be surprised if you put 28/36 on and it still don't bog. how come you have to put a magnet to the ecu to make it change the map, whats wrong with a switch or button? do you actually get a mini magnet with the ecu lol? im just trying to find out a few things on the ecu.also did you get the 2012 tps 2? ive been watching them at pitstop, still not on sale again lol(im a tight git)
