Time to tear this truck down and rebuild!

You will figure it out for sure. I would avoid grease on the pins that engage the foward/reverse gears. I'm sure you noticed that 90%of the grease on the chain drive was flung off the gears and chain. The Lucas red and tacky is like stepping on gum on a hot side walk!!!!Shout out to you ShadOman .....WHAZUPPP!!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. If I’m seeing correctly it does appear that the springs can’t overcome the grease resistance on the pins.

As Mick shared, I too methodically grease as needed with red grease and items such as the pins that need to allow sliding freely a thin film.

Your patience will produce great results.

Nice...3 minds solved an issue....amazing how that worked out....l still think the the rc community should govern the world....

Tight and right !!!! So glad you took the time to go through everything......you will not be disappointed with it. One last bit of advice, don't remove choke, just bend the arm a bit so it's captured, so to speak by the rubber base of airf ilter otherwise truck c an be hard to start or choke can close while running leaving you very puzzled.....been there, did that...

Before I start taking things apart... I got it all back together and realized that the rotation of the front tires opposed the rear. If I spin the rear driveshaft, the front driveshaft spins opposite... i could have sworn I put the diffs back in the axles the exact same way I took them out. I can't imagine the transmission would have went back together wrong, and I didn't think to check rotations before I took it all apart.

Thoughts?🤣

The shafts should rotate opposite of each other.

Put 2 wheels on one side and rotate one wheel and the other wheel should rotate the same direction.

If i rotate the rear wheels forward, the front wheels go in reverse. If the driveshafts are supposed to spin opposing eachother, then i reckon I accidentally put in a diff backwards...

Then the driveshafts are both rotating the same direction … akin to a very long pencil; correct?

If yes, then one diff has the ring gear on the wrong side.

If i am looking at the side of the truck and rotate the rear driveshaft towards me, then the front driveshaft rotates away from me. So not like a long pencil.

I am pretty positive the diffs went back in the same they came out. I feel like it would have been hard to put those back in wrong. If the driveshafts are supposed to spin with eachother like a long pencil, then it looks like I need to take the transmission apart.

No, the shaft is not suppose to spin akin to a long pencil.

As you described is correct. I took a video but it won’t let me upload it … only stills

Maybe wrong, but for the driveshafts to spin as you described the transmission seems correct. It only defines the shaft rotation and the diffs define the wheel rotation. I suspect the rig gear location.

From the driver side if you turn the rear drive shaft towards you the rear wheels should rotate counterclockwise. If it does and the front wheel rotates clockwise then it’s the front differential.

Hang in there.
