Yea, at it again. I have been noticing lots of tire roll when turning on the front tires. Figured might need new foam inserts. Brainstorm conclusion,AIR. Found some interludes at harbor freight, 5 bucks apiece. The hardest part was removing old foam. They don't look to bad for 3 years old, did tear when removing. Only did rears today. I was hoping to find something wider but ended up using 2 per tire.

Placed valve stems 180 degrees opposite each other. One in front side of rim, one rear. Basically, a test. Only ran about 10 minutes because there is a difference in diameter front to rear. Seems to work good, bit bouncy. Very low air pressure. Going to deflate and put a bit of corn starch in rim/tire to let tubes slip a bit. Going to mount them on front to check fit and performance before doing the other 2 tires, will update after that.

Intresting approach! Is the tube wide enough to fill the whole tire? I ask as if not..you are gonna have bad uneven wear on the tread. Could be the lighting..but looks like its only inflating about half the tire width. Not talking smack..just honest question.

Unfortunatlly the tubes only fill half the tire that is why I installed 2 per tire.Nothing available, atv, etc is wide enough. The tubes I used are for a small gardon tractor, atv ,etc. After fitting to the front going to have to run tube with bent valve stem, sall some at tractor supply.Going to be on going experiment and will update after fronts are done.I need to try air pressure adjustments and so on.Right now have less than 5 psi in them.Worse case will have to get new foams but they needed replaced any way.Going to get front tubes tommorow, more expensive aroun 10 -15 bucks each but only spent 25 bucks on the 4 rear tubes. With truck moving both tubes visible in tire, looks cool.

If I read correctly, Mick used 2 tubes per tire.

I think it’s a very creative approach but suspect that increased bouncing regardless of the pressure will be a by-product of using inner tubes “unless” they filled will water as is often used with implement equipment.

The tubes are 13 inch outside dia × 5 inch wide × 6 rim dia tire if I am correct
Sidewall much stiffer too, less roll in corners..

Went with the stiffer foam insert. Couldn't find a good fitting single tube, so had 2 in each tire. I think it is a viable way to go if you can find a proper size tube but the softness of tire limits air pressure. If you look closely you can see the 2 tube's pushing on tire but the center of tire is basically empty. Truck was really bouncy , but again if I could locate a wider single tube I would try again. Was just a experiment, I'm always curious as to ,can I make it better, but budgets and lack of machinery to make things hold me back. My cnc machinery consists of grinder, drill, files, dremell and my hands. Tons of ideas but.......Now that I think about it, the aluminum rims available now could really help to make it work, but budgets still issue.

Do you think that there is a way to actually install a valve stem and actually seal the beadlokcks like the real thing. They do make small diameter valve stems like they use on drag cars with a spindle mount wheel so it doesn’t need to be a big rubber mushroom style stem. Just a thought.

I’m not sure, I would have to look at what the bead of the tire and rim looks like. But, I know that they have go kart tires filled with air that you can attach with go kart wheel adaptors they sell at Taylor RC. I have some on the way and will post updates soon.

Great idea Mick, you would think for what those trucks cost they would have tube tires to begin with instead of the cheapo foam inserts.

Sadly this experiment failed....people running go cart style adapter and tire now but doesn't look good. As everything l do l will continue to experiment $$$$!!!!!
