Demo'ed my 3S to the lads at Deeside a little today.
Need to adjust the 'braking' as the parachute wasn't working (joking of course) and had to stop it with my foot at 25-30 mph !!
Bumper wasn't too happy - alloy of course.
The 'bumper' itself was fine, it's the mount that disintegrated, and conveniently is never sold separately.
I'm going to risk it and try the Integy ( ? ? ) mount as they use spring steel, which is an unusually good idea for them !

the toyz have been good to deal with shipping is around 14 to 21 days to australia, i brought a fair bit of stuff from there for my losi micros, i do try and order small orders through the toyz off ebay as ive found the shipping cheaper and i don't get the order fee like i do from the website.

Im going to try and keep my mervo stock and only replace broken items, im not going to do the usual and let my alloy adiction take over, the only mods im planning on doing is gtr shocks once the stock shocks are dead, futaba 2.4 radio and mabe twin steering servos even through the stock servo does a good job but i like mg servos.

so we will order some rhino and zippy 3s lipos soon, i quess we will manily run on grass with 2 x stock nimh in Parallel mabe ocationlay in Series and run 2 x 2s lipos in Parallel and 2x 3s in Parallel.

what did you guys do, change to the smaller pinion to keep the heat down, as ive only seen my old mans merv run twice once for a full single stock battery and the second time for 3 mins, but it seams to run hot on grass with nimh batteries and the first time the nimh was dam hot afterwards and the motor was pritty warm also.

im thinking of putting the smaller pinion on as soon as i get mine to make sure i have no heat issue troubles and so just incase i start running 2 x stock nimh in series as i know ill have to try it.

I went to the smaller pinion and haven't changed it since I put lipos in it. It's still super fast. I also purchased a heat sink for the motor which I think helps a bit with the heat.

I replaced my original servo with a hitec hs-85mg. Works great. I thought about dual, but I'm not sure how much better it would make it. If you do it, let me know. If it's a huge improvement, I may try it sometime.

I don't think there is really a lot you need to mod, it's an awesome rc.

do you run yours in 2s or 3s configuration ?

i most likly will not change servos till the stock ones dies, but ive been looking at hs-82mg as a replacement, pritty much the same power as hs-85mg just cheaper.

i like running twin servo,s in my fg mt and it think its takes some load of the single servo when bashing or crashing and most rc,s ive had ive always had servo dramers.

the single stock servo seams to work well in there merv,s ill think about it more once mine is here and ive had a chance to play with it.

I've been OK with the stock servo for now.
I said to myself, this one I'm going to keep stock ..... yeah right - it's nearly all alloy.
The Hot Racing gearbox and gears are great, unusual for such a specialised part.
I've kept the stock pinion, but take care.
I'm on 3S now, but may default to 2S, and 'play' with 3S.

You may be OK on thin smooth grass with the higher power but Traxxas only recommend the NiMH 7.2V if running on grass.

at my old mans place the grass is from 1 inch to 2 inch,s long ive told him to jump on the ride on mower and cut it all down but the ride on will only cut down to 1 inch, it worries me some, but its sommer the grass isnt thick and crumbles under your feet in winter i wouldnt run it with the grass that tall.

im with you i think 2s for normal running and 3s for the days im feeling slightly evil, i have not heard much from my old man since he picked up his merv so he must like it

TBH I haven't noticed much of a difference between really silly (2S) and plain stupid (3S) !!
It is more like the 6S E-Maxx I have and when hard on it blasting away at Deeside, the nose lifted up, despite the low wheelie bar with 1/10 Revo wheelie wheels !!!!
Al.

I run mine in 2s and 3s. Depends on how fast I feel like going. 2s is a bit more controllable when I don't feel like making back and forth wheelie runs in front of my house.

I think I just had an original bad servo. It twitched way too much from the day I turned it on.

as you can see my old man got a blue one, i got a red one cause its faster, i can wait to give it a go...

well i could not resist today on my lunch break i gave the car a quick squirt for a few mins out the front of my house, just to make sure it all worked lols, today once i got home from work we took it to the park and gave it a run, im impressed it goes good with one stock 7.2v 1200 mah nimh battery the radio actualy isnt bad at all and has great range the car runs well just a little soft on the springs but we have some parts comming to fix that.

one of my stock 7.2v 1200 mah nimh batteries is only taking 500mah of charge and is cutting off early i still used it but only got around 4mins of use out of it less then the other battery, so ill cycle it a few times and see if it picks up.

any ways realy happy with little truck its going to rip one the lipo,s im hopping my lipos, lipo conectors and y harness will be here by the end of the week, we are goign over my old mans place of saterday for a bbq and a mini e revo sesion so it should be good.

here is a quick vid of me down the park.

i think one of batteries is dead, on the second charge at 1.2 amp one battery took 500mah again the second battyery took 1500mah on the stock 1200mah nimh, or it could be my cheapo charger, but its worked well on every thing else just not the most acurate lipo balancer its ususaly 0.01 ot 0.05v out out.

the battery that took 500mah lasted 4 mins befor it was flat on the merv the one that took 1500 lasted just under 12 mins, just driving around my front lawn, so ive got the dead one on some cycles to see what happens, i still had a blast with the truck and im glad i got 2 stock batteries lols

ive now put 5 battery packs through the truck and loving it, but you could say two of the battery packs where equal to 2/3 of one battery lols and i only had a quick go one battery on my lunch break with one pack.

sweet rtr truck set up we out of the box, fast, tuff (i had a couple boob boob,s) sexy and best of all FUN and my wife likes drivng.
