na mate im still waiting on an express order from ultimatetoys.com.au i made 11 days ago befor i can drive it, got 4 fully charger 2s lipos and 2 fully charged 3s lipos waiting to try out.

im thinking there is some wear on drive shafts and steering and susspension rods and you would expect after over 40 battery packs in dirt and grass.

ill most likly only replace stuff if it cant be used any more, this will give me more usage and a better intercation on how good the truck is and how long stuff last.

im not going to up grade it, only the rpm front bumper witch is only as good as the stock traxxas mount, im going to keep using stock parts, but collect enough to replace about every thing on the truck, when stuff comes up cheap on ebay as ive been getting stuff cheap as.

this way if any thing bust or falls off ill have the parts in my shed and i will not have to wait for parts to come in the post as i will have it sitting around and if my old man needs any parts ill have them here also.

im thinik this way i will get the most money,s worth out of it, the most usage as normaly i replace every thing in sets (break a suspention arm, buy a set and replace the lot out of the set, or rebuild engines when they drop off a tad not when they stop) not as they cant be used any more, ill try that and see how i go.

its been about 2 weeks since my last drive of the merv im hanging to have a drive and test out these zippy 11.1v 20c 3s 1800 mah lipo,s i need some wheel spinning and donut fixes i miss how the mervs tyres squeal on the hard packed dirt and ive found a new spot to go for a swim and drive it.

well my new charger turned up today, it was checked over by customs they had to have a look, it might of been the 4 little rubber feet it looks like pills lols any way so far very impressed looks good seams very acurate and it works thats always a bonus lols

100_3842.webp

i had to have a little play with it

100_3843.webp

its spot on voltage wise, i might upgrade the firm ware and check calibration just for some thing to do.

im liking the look of that charging board shane.

just so I understand how it works it evenly distributes the ampage set by charger to the batteries.

for example if im charging 2x 2S1P lipo's at 4 amps each battery will get 2amp charge? Is that correct?

yes cause its a parallel charging board say if you charge 2 x 2sip 2000mah lipos its just like charging one 4000 mah lipo and they share the charge.

since lipo charging works off voltage not delta peak or mah ratings they sort of balance them selfs out

nice, where can I get a good one from? I want one!

i don't want to charge my lipos, ones I got now, harder than 2 amps, i like to keep things safe, with the board what do you recomend I set it to?

this is the one i got

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14856

i think you told me your using deans so this one might be better for you

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=15237

your 7.4v 2s 4000 mah lipo,s can be charged at 1c (1 x capacity % 1000) so 4 amps each, ive read your batteries data sheet it says max charge of 2c (2 x capacity % 1000) 8 amps

if you charge 2 together it will make one big pack (7.4 2s 8000mah) so the normal 1c charge (1 x capacity % 1000) = 8 amps or the (2 x capacity % 1000) = 16 amps

so since your b6 charger can olny charge at 5 amps like my b6 charger i would set the charge to 4 amps for one and 5 amps for 2.

i think you might be a lilttle bit parranoid only charging your lipo,s at 0.5c it will not hurt them doing that, but the normal charge for the 7.4v 2s 30/40c 4000 mah lipo,s is 4 amps, but if you want to charge two at a time to save time plug two into gether on a parrallel board and double your currentcharge rate.

every thing if said in here is safe and its what i would do, Sohan i would not tell you to do some thing if i though it was unsafe at all ive gone from the battery makers specifacations, my expernice with the same charger.

im sure some one else might jump in here and say its safe to charge a 4000 mah lipo at 4 amps, but you will not hurt them charging at 0.5c or 2 amps at all, if any thing you might get a few more uses out of them, but each time you charge them youll just spend double the time watching them charge then you have to, the b6,s ive had and my old man has will charge at 5amps all day

im loving the icharger One of the best chargers that I have used It came with the firmware: 3.13 which i upgraded to 3.14 after a bit of stuffing around with the usb drivers, this is a pretty simple and a sweet charger. I have gone through all the menus and there is some good stuff in there,There was no manual, so you have to copy it from the provided CD, it would off been better if it came with a booklet and the rubber feet installed on it. i like that you can upgrade the firmware, calibrate the iternal temp, balance voltage, main charge cable voltage, imput voltage but my was spot on even after the firmware update jsut the imput voltatage was 0.02 volt out tested it with my fluke and a cheap dmm, i also like that you can adjust the delta peak dection for nimh and nicads (i havnt used nicads for a while) and checking the internal resistance of the batteries is pritty sweet also all in all a great charger for under $95 aud delivered.

the power supply im using for it is also pritty sweet, bit over kill for the icharger 106b+ as its draws around 1/4 the total amp out put of power supply, but it gives me room to upgrade later on down the track but im happy with the power supply not bad for under $95 aud delivered, pritty good charger power supply combo for $190 including shipping compared to other set ups for 10 pluss amp charging, but like i said the p350 is a bit over kill for the icharger 106b+ but it gives me room to grow.

on friday i opeaned a paypal claim with ultimatetoys.com.au after having no communication for 12 days or replie to my emails about the hubs and ball set for my merv sent via express post, i got a email via paypal from them statting one of the parts was not in stock asking me if i waited to wait to ship the order complete once new stock get in or cancel, i requested to cancel it, im just waiting on the refund now, so im happy i know whats going on with that order now, on friday i ordfered the same parts from mas hobbies in perth w,a they where sent express on friday so im hopping that will be here this morning since they are only 250km up the road and i can drive my merv and test out 3s on it.

since my rear wheels foams are gone well nothing left after getting them wet and are full of sand im going to expoxy the breather holes on the rims so less sand and water can get in them, but i don't plan on getting them wet again, but i think it should keep the sand out most likly not a good idea, but ill try it on the new set i have and the second set ive got comming that should be here any day ill decide if i want to do the same thing to them or not after trailing the other set first with epoxyed breather holes.

now i just got to sit around and play the waiting game and see if the parts turn up today so i can get my merv fix after over 2 weeks of looking at it with no action lols.

mas hobbies in wanaroo w.a came through for me, these are the parts i needed to get running again.

the merv with a new rear right upper susspention arm, new traxxas front bumper mount and a new front hub, i used the old pivot balls and one old pivot ball caps, so i realy only needed one pivot ball cap to get running, but ive got more spares now and another back up set comming for the usa.

100_3848.webp

just got to wait for the wife to get bakc with the falcon so i can go and have a bash and see if i can make the esc smoke while bashing with 3s lols.

these also turned up

100_3846.webp

my old man has 3 x slipper sets but no spur gears so im going to try and swap him 2 spur gears for one slipper set, so that will give me 2 complete spur gear and slipper sets including nuts, springs and so on as i have one complete set as a spare already and it will give him the same, but my old man don't like sharing, he also has 2 sets of tan sprigs and 2 sets of black springs an firmer upgrade for the mervs her only need one set of each not two lols, so i might see if a can swap him one of my parrallel charging boards and some other leads ill make up for him.

we took the merv down to the local swimming hole for a drive and so we could have a smiw, i ran 4 x 2s lipos one after the other while my wife and daughter had a swim, aprox 80 mins of bashing time on the merv i had a plast, the motor and esc got dam warm after running battery packs back to back with no cool down period, but the thremal shut down didnt kick in, i did have a swim and let the merv cool down befor putting the 3s lipo in and i need to cool down as it was dam hot

heres a quick pic of our local swimming hole

here is a befor shot of the merv after the new front hub and 1 new pivot ball clip, new rear right upper susspention arm, new traxxas front body/bumper mount and the new rpm front bumber installed.

100_3849.webp

her is the after shot after running 4 x 2s lipos aprox 80 mins of usage, and running 11.1v 3s lipo for 30 seconds befor the rear tyre shredded lols.

100_3858.webp

one shredded rear tyre, one broken rear lower susspention arm due to a sharp rock sticking out of the ground and me hitting it at full throttle and the two new front comming unglued and the rear tyres filling up with sand, im uploading a couple of quick vids now ill post them up soon.

im realy like this icharger 106b+ and the p350 15v 23 amp 350 watt power supply, i balacened charged 4 x 2s 7.4v 20c 2200 mah zippy,s as one big 7.4v 2s 8800 mah lipo on the hoby king parrallel charging board at 1c (8.8amps) and the charger was done in 75mins, and all cells where spot on.

it would normaly take me upto 90 mins to balance charge one zippy 7.4v 2s 20c 2200 mah lipo on my old charger, but with this new charger and power supply i can do 4 at once in less time, i can charge them quicker then i could use them all, normaly its around 1.5 hour of charge time each for 15 + mins use.

the batteries don't even get above room temp while charging at 8.8amps on the parrallel board, the charge didnt get warm, the power supply dropped from 15.28 volt to 15.16 volt so it dropped 0.12 volt under load, but the charger was saying it was only drawing 15.16v at 4.6 amps, the thermo fan on the power supply took over 10 mins to start and only just was going and by the end of the charge it was already stopped, the thermo fan on the charger ramped up as the charge did but the charge didnt feel warm to touch, very happy with this combo.

its a nice spot, but theres not point going there on weekends or school holidays as its bussy and all the kids drinking and running a muck.

i think 3s is a bit silly and over the top, on 2s i couldnt get traction and only managed to do a couple of wheelies, but on 3s it wheelies and ballon,s all 4 tyres.

ive been thinking about running a center diff to tame it down a bit and stop the wheelies, the wheelies are starting to loose its fun and the car can be hard to controll, ive also been thinking proline dirt hawgs and titus bead lock rims even though they are a bit heavy.

today a nother set of stock merv tyres and wheel,s should be here but after shredding a tyre yesterday and 2 fronts comming unglued and the original rear tyres full of sand, even when well glued.

so last night i whent out and ordered the proline dirt hawgs mounted on 2.2 titus bead lock rims, while i was there i orded a centre diff and 3 bottles of 50 000wt diff oil, ive always thought the stock 30 000wt in the mervs diffs was a tad thine by the way it act,s, but it will be intresting to try it out with the center diff.

ill glue up the fronts today with the only glue ive got epoxy and see how i go and if the other new set of stock wheels and tyres turn up ill got for a bash this arvo, if not ill use 2 other stock wheel,s and tyres that are full of sand lols.

i don't think ill run 3s for a while, and i might have to drop from 23t to 21t pinion or close to that with the bigger 2.2 dirt hawgs, ill see how i go

no point if its uncontrollable and just going to do damage! if your having fun with 2s stick with it.

my sons 1/10 can handle 3s but its hard enought to control on 2s so i wont be buying a 3s anytime soon.

yeppers no more 3s for me for now, i might try them with the need wheel package ive got comming, but im thinking ill give them to my old man for his chopper

today some another parrallel charging board turned up with some clone traxxas connectors from hobby king, im going to give my old man one of the parrallel charging boards most likely the one ive been using and try and trade it for some firmer springs he has and ill make up some more direct charging leads for him.

100_3869.webp

ive orded some more stock traxxas tyre/rim stock combo,s they should be here any day now, my other set have already got here a few days ago but already came unglued, im hopping they will be here this arvo with the second post run as this is all ive got to work with sofar, i have to wait a few days for some glue to put them back together, nothing suitible localy.

1 tyre/rim is okish, 1 is realy heavy cause its full of sand, 2 tyre and foams sets waiting to be reglued and 2 spare unglued rims with no tyre/foam replacments.

with most of my chargers and camping stuff i make up 12v car cigarette lighter adaptors, so on holidays or long trips i can charge camera batteries, lights and so on, i only had cigarette lighter adaptors rated for about 4 to 5 amps and they look very very light duty.

so i was looking at our 12v ac inverter we use to run laptops on trips in the car, the cigarette lighter plug was rated for 15amp 250watt and looked heavy duty, i thought it would be great for the icharger 106b+, i will not be using the icharger to its full capacity but i rather have a heavyer duty lead then not.

my wife freaked out when i started chopping up leads but once i showed her the cigarette lighter plug is now dual purpose and the laptop power ac inverter still works and i now can use the icharge in the car while on trips for camera batteries and so on, she was cool with it.

our laptop power supply lead with female 4mm bullet connectors to suit the male 4mm bullet connectors on the ichargers power supply lead.

ive also ordered 2 x aa battery holder, 8 x aa battery holder, a tamiya charge lead i have to modify, some gold male and female tamiya plugs to make up the battery box,s for charging, ive ordered some 4mm banana plugs and 14 awg wire to make up some charge leads and for the parrallel charging boards to plug straight into the charger and some cheap aa 3000mah nimh to try out i enjoy making up my own leads.

is that power inverter just so you can charge from power aux port?

if it is why not use aligator clips and charge directly off the battery? put less strain on the dash harness in the falcon.
