So, last week I posted my buggy score. I just saw an aluminum frame on marketplace.
Turns out there is a Monster Buggy forum here. This is the first post here in 3 1/2 years.

What I have learned so far:

Produced for 10 yrs from 1993

The Mitsubishi TL26 engine was OEM, either early version or late?
Chassis Assembly "Note Zenoah-powered models use metal rods instead of the Bowden cable assembly."
I have a cable and no rods.
I have optional engine bracket Rear assembly shows "This part not used on Zenoah-powered models."

This buggy has optional Anti roll bar, on front, not rear.

They produced a road version, I believe with slicks. Haven't even found a pic of this yet.

That's the good of it, after assessment and cleanup, there is a lot missing from this buggy.

No radio box
No fuel tank mount (this motor might have had a different fuel tank, looks different to me.)
Rear shock mounts are broken on the diff housing.
No wing or body.

To continue this story, I found 2 more on Kijiji.

Traxxas TRX (from ad)
One complete, one in pieces and tons of spare parts.

I see the optional pipe, right on top and an original radio and original Traxxas boxes.
My wife picked it up today and said the tote is really heavy, without the cars in it. Can't wait till it's home.

I would not, and I mean not use the original radio gear. Keep it as a novelty, and / or as a complete original package if you decide to sell it off. Makes it worth more imo. Kill switch would be very high on the list as well as a modern radio. Then you have your bases covered during a runaway, flip over, etc.
And congrats on your find, I'm looking forward to seeing this up and running.

I've been chomping at the bit waiting for my Wife to come home with the new loot.
The first buggy is complete and great condition. Pretty sure gas and a battery and it would run.
The second buggy is disassembled, but appears almost new.
Surprise, under it all was the remains of a third buggy.
Plus optional pipe, optional sway bar kit, 2 new wings, 2 Manuals, 2 original radios.
All 3 have Zenoah engines, so no parts for the first buggy.
All 6 wheels are in great shape, some still have casting flash in the middle.
3 bodies, 3 roof panels, 3 roll bars.
No electrics or gas tank for 3rd buggy

I am calling this the Uber Buggy.
Have to pull the plug yet, but pretty sure the engine hasn't run.
Optional Anti Roll Bar front and rear.
Undocumented Aluminum Shock Towers front and rear. Stock was fiber board.
Undocumented Aluminum Axle housings front. Stock were plastic.
Undocumented metal body and wing. I see no indication this is home made and decals appear real. Have new unused body.
I have new wings, but don't want to put the holes in them.

I stumbled across these photos on an old ebay ad, My only angle on the car. Buggy seems the same, but way cool body and the aluminum shock mounts.

On the old ones that I have, all 4 engines run. A couple needed carb bubbles, but all fired on the second pull. The Misubishi TL26 is the smoothest little engine I have ever run. Was going to put it in my Rovan, but crankcase interferes with driveshaft. Might have to keep a 5B to put it in. I put a Zenoah with the pipe in my 4wd, so I will have to make a video of 18(?) year old engine in new Baja.

Would you care to take a gander at the Monster Onroad by Traxxas?
For your viewing pleasure, the rare Traxxas 1/6 Monster Onroad or just 1/6 Onroad and my wip Monster Buggy with tuned pipe. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, they used a Mitsubishi body for the On road build. To note the same Zenoah motor as the buggy. I'm still seeking parts for the buggy like the battery tray standoffs and body posts TRA6048.

Starting a new site called mouth, feet and cars. Your welcome to join up.
Really I did not know if I could find the monster buggy for size comparison. So I thought I would use my foot for reference. Then I found the monster buggy right after.
