Ive had my CY engine now for about 1.5 yrs now. Im having difficulty tuning it. Its low end acceleration if fine (does wheelies occasional), its when it goes from the high needle back to the low needle it just decides to cut out. So I try and change where the needle is, yet still the same thing happens time and time again (cuts out)

It has a wt 668 carb and a ddm dom pipe.

Can anyone suggest the low and high needle combination to make it run consistently. (if you have the same engine, carb and pipe

Also ive noticed that its incredibly easy to turn over and was wondering if its time to change the piston ring??

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

yup time for a rebuild, Sounds like your loosing compression when she gets warm, Do the ring, seals, and bearings, also check the piston may be time for a new topend

lol ive been dreading this day

when i first got it, it took a real tug to turn it over a few times whereas now it responds as if the spark plug isnt in (its screwed in porperly)

but would that cause problems all around if there is a loss of compression. Surely it'd just mean there'd be less power to play with

if you loose compression the engine dies, Also if your going to replace the ring you should just do a complete rebuild

Eddie,a rebuild is a piece of cake bud.If you youtube Zenoah engine build there will be a shed load of info on them.

Any problems shout out here.

cheers for the advice guys, im guna do a compression test soon and will probs end up rebuilding the engine

make sure you check the chrome plating in the cylinder. use the top of your finger nail and slide it in and out of the cylinder feeling for rough spots or lips near tdc. if you feel a chaulk board feeling or a lip the plating is worn and you will waste your dough on a new ring, piston.

sounds like time for a big bore !!! For what the engine is worth you may even consider buying a new or new to you upgraded engine off one of the fellow LSF members!!!

Ive taken the top off it, looked at the piston ring and the piston, all seems to be fine however when i checked the carb i found a load of crap in the wire gauze filter. Ive taken the whole thing apart, cleaned it with petrol and assembled it back together, so with a bit of luck it'll behave how it should when i run it again.

i also did a compression test, it had around 8 bars of pressure in the cylinder which is the standard amount (the engine was warm when i did the test)
