Took my MT out a few weeks ago and thought the gears were straining. They are too tall for the truck. So,I was thinkiing about going on a different ratio.
The original rathio that I bought the two speed with is 44T and 42T,will a 48 on the first gear and then 44 on the second gear work??? I don't really want a 48 then 46,I want to see and hear the difference.
Any thoughts please folks.

Hi Voo,
My truck's only single speed, but the gearing's 48/16 with the standard wheels. It takes off reasonably, then there's the ballistic stage with the DDM Dom high end exhaust taking effect.
Last Sunday was plain silly - embarrassing really. All I could do was donuts unless I was very gentle with the start.

Sounds like you're quite high-geared unless you're on smaller wheels.
Alan.

Alrite voo,
have you got any videos of your truck?do u think the 2 speed box is worth it?just a lot of people say they don't make much difference, whats you shout on them?
cheers

I do mate but its only running in a small space outside Jackobytes house. I think I'll sell it and put the single back on,it was fast enough like that anyway.
Cheers fellas.

Absolutely have a 4 tooth difference, you don't hear or really see the gear change when you go down to a 2t difference,
I use 46t x 42t , once you have accelerated with the 1st gear it has no problem firing up second gear even at a 4 tooth difference, these guys here can have up to a 10 tooth difference from 1st to 2nd http://www.rcburnout.com/

I make all the steel + alloy 2 speed gears if you ever upgrade

Do you think it might be straining because they are new? I feel like that is what is going on with my 2 speed on my FG.
Tell you the truth, i don't really feel a big difference in speed with the 2 speed vs the single. I might even switch back.

like it voo,but i can see what u mean by the straining mate that don't seem right, maybe it is just the gearing.Looks the part, like it.:2guns:

No Chris, the gears are old ones.I spoke to a bloke in Ripmax in London today called Hi .Apparently what he dosent know about FG isnt worth knowing.
I said i was using a 8000 RPM HPI spring on the clutch and he said it was too higher rpm engagement for the clutch. He was using an adjustable clutch and was engaging at 4800! So i'm in two minds wheather to keep it and go for a 48 and 42.

Thats sweet super, whats it compare like to yours when there together?thats a vid id like to see!!!

Not alot of differance mate, we were just about to do a drag race then noticed something wrong with the truck so never got round to it.....

Will get him out soon and do 1 :):):)

VooDoo...Yeah I still have my 2spd to install yet and run...I have 44/42
plastic gears..But I think rc-online germany has the metal 2 spd gerar....
I am leaving it with 44/42 but use street tires on asphalt running....Fg wheels & tires are to big and weigh too much....I would go with buggy wheels & pin tires for off/road...
are you using the fg modifed cluch case...that has been cut out for the large engine mount?..what gear plate you using?I have the Fg7474 with lay brake....I am going to install........Now Pipeous is the guy to talk to on 2spds....................
again just my opinion..Slawhammer

I'm using the FG alloy plate Roger Fg7474 and a vented bell . The is a bloke on ebay UK that does the 2SPD gears in metai but I don't want to buy them and waste money if its not what I want also I,ve been put off by a few of the comments(and cant be arsed).

I have one metal gear in my box of gears I will never use. 46 I believe. Moo sent to me with the 2 speed I got. I run on road with mine and plastic is quieter (and no need for a 46 on road).. do you want it? I stocked up on gears to experiment and have a box full.

I run tight gears just for excelleration. I am not sold on 2 speeds for off road though. dirt in one way bearings screws them up. they work but you have to keep them clean. it's different for the mt style 1/10 or 1/8 trucks because they are in sealed tranny cases.

man I watched charlieboy's video and have that inspector gadget tune stuck in my head now
