Gas, gas, gas, gas!! Batteries are for bedroom toys! I have nitro, brushless and a 5ive and I think the fuel powered stuff is just cooler. Yeah it gets to be a pain sometimes but I think there is nothing cooler than a nitro motor screaming 30,000 rpm past you. Or in this case a high performance 40 pound weed eater. The5ive is the shiznit, I wish I would have bought one years ago! Brushless would be good if you're in a neighborhood and have to be quiet and the instant torque is sweet, but the gasoline engines are just so cool. That thing is a boss to run and it looks like you got a kick ass score. I like that body. Too bad they don't stay like that for long.

I'm not going to bash but I will advise that you read up on Rovan 5th scale stuff before you decide to go the inexpensive route. Good Luck!

I do not have to read up on it I have them already and 1 motor rovan motor for 4 years with no problems at all. It has raned so good I replaced 2 of my redcats with the rovan motor they have been great have not looked back since. Most of the bad reading on the net for rovan motors is there older motor when clones first came out and yes they did have problems and clones will be bashed on the net regardless anyway but they have greatly improved there motors over the years and there are quite a few people that race at the track with me with the same motor as this that I suggested and they all love them and have not had any problems and this have been over 2 years for them at the track. But you wont find that on the internet.

I read and belong to alot of forums all formats has it problems there were many problems when the losi 5t fist came out the screws were too short losi had to change to a longer screw, they changed the chassis people having problems with broken chassis and more. But people with not get on the forum and bash losi or call it a piece of junk or P.O.S. a term that's used alot on the net and which they should not have because its a new format so yes its going to have its problems and they will have to be fixed in time and straighten out. You let those same problems happened to a rovan or KM and they bashers will come out the wood work and bash the heck out of it and they don't even own one. I guess they enjoy bashing more then just there cars.

Would someone please supply a link to the walbro carb? I'd like to get a roller with the rovan engine above with the walbro carb.

thanks!

So after a weekend of camping out of the way, im going to give it a go with the Rovan 30.5 engine w/ walbro carb. Gonna try it with the muffler it comes with and then down the road get a new muffler if i want to invest more. I'll need to get the 5036 Clutch Mount, 5038 Clutch Bell, 5044 19t Pinion, and 5801 19t mounts. $170 + $90 = $260 to get me rolling. Im going to try gas first and save the $600+ for a MGM ESC + Batteries down the road if I don't end up liking the gas engine.

But I've also noticed that on my truck, I cant fit the Savox Servos I wanted to use after I bought one Savox-0236mg and did a test fit. The Dual servo tray is a hybrid, with GFR Aluminum tray for throttle but appears the servo plate cut off and the DarkSoul dual servo mount in its place which fits the Hitec servos, its too small for the 2x Savox I planned on using. So I guess I'll have to get a Pair of Hitecs or maybe look into some used dual Savox trays.

I have the Rovan 30.5 motor now, looks good with their clutch cover and bell, all parts seem to fit right. Just waiting on servos that are in transit. I went with the savox 0236 I had already for throttle and bought 2x Hitec 5765 for steering.

To get a reliable brushless setup, you need deep pockets. The 5T is so heavy that unless you drop the rollcage or lose weight elsewhere, the Castle Creation 2028 motor might not cut it long term. Only other option is a very large Neu or Lehner motor which is big bucks. The Lehner 3080 alone is a $800 brushless motor. A CC2028 is less than $250. MGM ESC are starting in the $600+ range.

On the bright side, I believe a CC2028 is upwards of 10HP (if it survives) and Lehner 3080 is 20HP. That's some serious power.

I now have the roller all cleaned, motor and electronics installed, need to finish up cleaning the shocks and gas tank then im ready to start tuning and break in.
Ill post some pics later today.

What did you pay for that roller?
J

Cost about $750 shipped cross country.
IMO a killer deal that I couldnt pass up.

I have a rovan lt305 and in my year of owning it it has yet to let me down...other than regular maintenance. . the 30.5 motor is definitely a decent knock off motor

Looks good. Now all you need is a pipe on that bad boy and you probably wont look back. The tuning is much easier than nitro. Electric can get expensive too. I recommend Bartolone pipe. I took off my can and put in the Bartolone pipe and I cannot believe the difference. you will really like that. good Luck.

Thanks, good recommendation, because I already have been running a bartolone xp silenced pipe for about 2 months now. Its really perked up low end and deeper sound. After about 1.5 gal I burned up the clutch so i just put in hpi high response clutch and a 9500 ddm spring. Working good now. Might be a g320 in my future when I kill this motor.

losi 5ive T

Ive been looking around and finally picked up a Losi 5ive-T roller for cheap with a lot of upgrades.

I'm still debating on gas or brushless. I've been poking around here for a couple weeks now and know most will say go gas, but I had originally planned on brushless. All my other RC are brushless (2x 8ight-Te2.0, Rc8te, Savage 5T, Savage HP, Vorza, Rustler) as I normally just bash around the house backyard and in parks, parking lots, gravel, etc.

Right now I'm just cleaning it up, and figuring out what I got. Some upgrades include GFR dual servo tray, FLM center diff mount, Turtle Racing braces (all 3), Huge (IRP?) complete turnbuckles, Front and rear skids, maybe other stuff I don't know about. It weighs 31lbs as roller currently.

You guys have any recommendations for a first time 5ive-T builder?[
