at one time i had the idea to put a roof rack mounted to body of lights, use a extra large batt pack i had or the old 3000mah one from truck for the power, the trigger for it would have to come off Rx up to a switch that turn lights on and off, prolly use a small servo, mounted, with a wirerod to switch to turn it on or off, and just use a unsed button on Radio to operate it.

I think with the KB light controller you can do all this from controller, it also lets the brakes and turn signals function when you turn wheel or hit brakes.

yah it does do all that, but it also takes power from the Rx batt. my idea uses a seperate bat pack alltogether.

least when i looked into the kb controller setup once before it used rx batt to power the lights. it may have changed since i seen it.
 
im usin the DDM 4600 mah pack right now, so i have the old 3000mah pack that was in it. the 4pks radio i put in the LiFe 1900 pack, only drawback on that pack i have to remove it to charge it on life charger.
 
nuttin wrong with that if they work well for ya. my 3000 stock hump pack is just fine, i just wanted a lil longer runtimes, that why i went with a 4600 hump pack , at the time, DDM didnt have the 5k one out yet.

Why not just get a $20 pico switch and wire it inline with one of the power wires? That's be better than a big ol mechanical switch mess of crap.
 
then again back to using off the Rx pack, not what i would do if i were to do this setup, im not puttin them on mine, just thinkin up a idea of a way, the extra batt pack could be zip tied to chassis. i used to mess with RC planes alot, and did aierlons with a servo, of course, just occured to me a person could do a similar thing, of course the servo would have to jack into trucks Rx, but it would flip a switch to lights on a completely seperate setup, thus not draining power from Rx battery at all, with exception of the servo to flip switch on or off.

as far as wires go, use a quick connector to unplug the lights from chassis wiring, when removing or puttin on body, all the main stuff, stays on the ruck chassis, someplace/

anyways its just ideas i had kickin around.
 
A pico switch would be a better way to disconnect power than a servo. A servo at neutral will still use up more power than a Pico that has no moving parts, except for the small relay.
 
It's pretty much just a small remote on/off switch. Just cut a wire that's powering your lights, and put the Pico switch between the two ends of the cut wire. It'll close or open the circuit when you press the Aux button on the transmitter.
