What size carrier do I need for the 44 tooth gear wheel? The next size down I see from stock is 52mm but I want to make sure. Thanks.

hi mate. Not sure of the actual size. But i belive there is only two size's. R u running a truck, touring,or marder type car?. If your running a off road car makeing it 20/44 will harm your clutch. Maybe be best to stick a 17 or 18 on layshaft..

Ok...I'm running the 2WD MT, but I don't off road with it..that's Y I wanted to try to get more top end out of it. I can't find anything on gears for the layshaft for the MT. Do you know of anyone in the US that carries it? I read where someone did it to theirs but they got the gear from somewhere and did some modifications, which I can't do.
Atom I'll look into Hobbythek...Thanks.

What size spur shaft gear came on your MT? If its a 14 then you can gear up to a 16 there. Use a 16T pinion for the spur shaft gear. The firehammer 16t gears will work and are under 15.00.

Change your location for better links and support.

I have no clue. I'm still trying to get to know this thing. I've been a nitro guy for 7 yrs...Where is the shaft gear located?

The small one is your pinion.
The large one is your spur. On this set up a diff ring gear is used.
The aluminum pice in the center is your carrier.

This set up is an alloy carrier and plastic spur gear. The plastic spur gear can be swapped out with alloy also in this set up.

On the Firehammer, is it called the spur shaft gear also? Any idea where I can find this 16T? Tower Hobbies has some parts but I don't see the 16T gear...just a 14T pinion. Also, would the diff ring gear have to be changed also? What would I be looking at as far as change in top speed?

where r u located mate????. Just 'up' the shaft gear. R u running 16/48 or 18/46 at the moment?. I think 44 will go on your carrier If u want to go 20/44.if not, u will have 2 get the other carrier.

I'm in the States..I bought a 44T but the carrier that was on the 48 is too big and it's in mm so I wasn't sure how much of a drop in size it was. Now I decided to go with a 46 and according to DDM the stock one will fit. Thanks for the reply.

If you've bought a new 46t spur gear you will need to make sure the pinion gear is a 18t like wagon has said, the pinion and spur should add upto 64.

OK I'll add it, altho there's no LHS in my area for large scale...altho the one closest to me sells yarn and crafts in case I decide to switch hobbies.

To change the layshaft I take it the motor has to come out? Where can I find info on doing that? Thanks again.

OK Thanks BTB...
and ljw2k, r u running the 44/20 with the stock motor? I already switch to the 18/46 and it lost a tad on the bottom end but runs real good on the top end.
