hey bud. in my opinion the side dom is as good as it gets. jet-pro does make a side pipe and so does TGN. the jet-pro has had a few cracking issues and the TGN is simular to the side dom in performance. the side dom is the money.

MT: ported 28.5 w/ TGN side pipe

TT: ported 26.9 w/ side dom - race ported/lightened 23 w/ side dom

MTon-road: race ported zen 27.2 w/ side dom

ok i guess a better engine is where i need to save up..
You can always buy a new top end 1st. before laying down some serious cash for a comp. engine.

I am running an FG MT pipe on one buggy 27cc DS/SIKK and a Side dom on my other buggy w/ the stock 23cc engine.

I have an ESP mod/port 30.5 and the side dom and 813 carb and hpi filter. Killer combo.

I am running the stock 23 I built up my self. 35 mm bore and 30 Stroke I think it is commonly refered to as 28.5 cc I think it is actually a 28.9

My pipe changes with track layout or bash area, I have a "Sprint 77 modded DOM" and a heavily modded HPI ss pipe and a Custom build pipe.

Anyways it is heavily race ported , lightened flywheel , cut piston, running about 178 degrees of port timiung with a 668 carb

It will run as fast or faster than anybody's 30.5 I have came accross.

I think I spent $120 on the crank and bore kit.

So the answer is no you don't have to threow down lots of cash to run hard.

I forgot about that mod I too have a long aftermarket intake from DDM.

I have a 813 on my oval converted HPI Baja . I like the 668 better for tight course driving tracks that I do with my Rampage.

I run a DDM 28.5 race ported stroker, DDM Dom pipe, z-rc long intake, 813 carb, and I also polished all of the ports and she screams. I have a 8000 rpm clutch spring and it makes a difference on take off at first but then fades as it warms up, so I will be going to the lauterbacher 4 shoe soon.

Thanks

A 28.5cc mill is a stock crank with the GP290 36mm piston and head. The 35mm bore is used in the 29cc motor. I like the 28.5 because it maintains the stock stroke, so there isn't as big of a fall off in RPMs. Unless OBR ported it, then it'll scream regardless. :D
Thanks for the correction on final cc , My stroker screams , revs as fast and as much RPM as my GP290 , I'll put my Custom Fabrications ported up on a dyno against OBR , DDM , or ESP . I have ran with some of the ONB and they got no pull out from my motor.

The art of porting is not hard you just got to be willing to srap a cyl. once in a while when you went to far. I started on old pull off 23 cc , now I just cut them port them and flow them right out of the box. My dial indicator holder and a degree wheel takes most of the guess work out of it.

well maybe ill put my cy26 stock on the redcat and get a 27.2 for the 5t or 5b..man this 1/5 thing is getting expensive.i prolly spend at least 200 a month..

i kno i was just tellin one of my rcbuddy that i feel guilty..coz she don't get anything for herself..then next month is the same thing i need new front tires\wheels then if i break something again..its never ending !!

I run a ESP 30.5 with the TGN pipe. I did run my Trevor Simpson reed port engine in it for a while. It's better suited for the bajas. I'm happier with the 30.5 in the Rampage.
