Cy is going to be better, hy is a "knock off" of these and The plating on the cylinder walls known to not as good. I myself like to go with a four bolt head as well, helps with gaskets not blowing out. But some never have any issues in this department. I did on my cy and will never own a 2 bolt head again, this is just my opinion as others will say different on theirs.

+1 on the 4 bolt zen. I had nothing but.problems with my 2 bolt blowing out head gaskets....

yea agree about the 4 bolts. however, there is one area that the hy engine tops both the cy and zen. its the bottem end fitment. the crankshaft side to side end play in the cases. the zen and the cy have too much. on the hy-s i have worked on - there is close to zero side to side crank movement - near perfect fitment. there are 2 ways to tighten up this slop- shims-not a good idea, or machine the main bearing pockets on the bottom end cases deeper. yea, there should be some movement. but not as much as the zens-cy i have seen- just grab your flywheel- pull it back and forth and see for yourselfs.

If you torque the headbolts on a 2 bolt right with a torque wrench there's zero issues and I run my trucks wot unroll they break but the motors still run with zero issues

I'm going to say 4 bolt, especially on high hp engines. That is interesting to hear that the HY has a tighter bottom. That's how I like them :D

i'm with you brian. i'm more of a tight bottom end kind of guy than the big top ends. though they have their merit also.

Dude i torque to spec.i build diesel engines for a living.sometimes u get a bad head or bottom end i was tired of puttin in a head gasket every run so i just bought a 4 bolt zen.cheaper in the long run then if i bought a head kit and messed with it not to blow gaskets.but thats my opinion...

I think your right. Once you have problems blowing head gaskets four bolt is the way to go. But it is all in your own preference torque or not some just eat gaskets up for lunch. But if your lucky and you have a good one hang on the two bolt and savor it

Where do we get HY engine parts if by mischance i have a blown gasket....DDM only carry CY and no 30cc....

Ok thanks for the response.Lets hope i wont have problem with it...i just finish my breaking in today. These engine are normaly reliable right?
