Hey All,
Just want to emphasize the importance of doing full pre run checks! Was out with a buddy and he had a runaway. His kill switch lead either vibrated off or he inadvertently disconnected it when he took the top shroud and cleaned some grass out of it at home before we ran today making his remote kill useless.
We were bashing pretty hard and he blew out his battery box and ejected the battery. The car took off and was headed straight towards a pond and creek, he’s running behind it holding his transmitter in the air naturally the thing was non responsive. The area is grown over except where we cleared a little track, he lost complete sight of it. I was still perched at a higher vantage and had an idea where it was headed. Luckily it ended up hitting one of a few small trees an stopped around 600 to 800 feet away! If the terrain hadn’t some how made it change course it would have definitely done a Dukes of Hazard jump into a large pond.
These things are no joke and need to be respected! I think I actually may solder my leads on. I will be doing a much more thorough pre run check from this point forward. He got very lucky today outcome could have been much worse and costly!
Have fun guys, but be responsible! Here’s some running right before it happened and probably contributed to the battery box blow out.
