If Im not happy with the power of the 28.5 OBR I'll get an ESP race ported head and slap it on my 32 cc Rovan bottom end with a pipe and swap motors putting the 32cc in the HPI

Well I got a look at it today , wouldnt start ( kill switch not programmed and couldnt figure it out ) the thing is fairly hammered IMO all 4 rims beat up one was bent , rust on screws , anodizing coming off parts not so hot looking to me ? maybe I'll just get the yop end ESP 32cc Race ported head and a pipe for the Rovan ?

Always trust your gut??
Ya this thing is OLD and crap condition , gonna get a ESP race top end and pipe fekkk it
Order placed , now we will see IF a Zenoah ESP race ported head fits a Rovan 32cc bottom end with a Pipe ?? I talked to ESP about this and just need to measure squish etc. He ( Doug ) seemed to thing it will fit

I purchased a HPI 5R on road boss mustang so I can share a couple of thoughts. First, HPI company has not recovered after they were purchased by another company, so parts continue to be a challenge. For my 5R, I cannot even find a body that matches the stock one and HPI doesn't offer a replacement body, as example. The good thing is the 5B is popular and there are many shops that still have parts for them. The quality of the HPI rigs is very good in my opinion and compared to other brands. I would just run the crap out of that engine and then replace it when needed. As already pointed out in this thread, there are tons of engine options. Wheels and tires are available, so again that wouldn't be a show stopper for me. Just make sure the chassis is not bent, and make sure it has not been in a frontend hard crash. I purchased a used 1/5th Nutech GT5-R Mustang and the pictures looked great. However, when it arrived I discovered that it had been in a frontend crash and there were several bent parts that I had to replace, which was a PITA! At least you have the advantage of inspecting it in person before purchase. I would ask him to start and run the car in front of you. If it doesn't run, then start taking money off. Maybe $400. if you need to replace the engine.

If the kill switch is bad, go with a Killer Bee switch. I just installed one and it works perfect.

Good luck!
